It wasn’t that long ago that the only vapes you’d see were these stonking big sub-ohm cloud machines.
These days, those kits feel like the vape equivalent of a brick-sized 80s mobile phone – powerful for their time, but not something you’d want to carry around! The scene has completely changed. Today, it’s all about sleek, pocket-friendly devices, and mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping is what the vast majority of us are using.
Of course, “best” doesn’t mean one-size-fits-all. Vaping is a super personal journey, and even the best MTL kits have different features that make them perfect for one person and just “okay” for another.
With all that in mind, we’ve put together our definitive list of what we believe are the best mouth-to-lung vapes you can get your hands on in 2025

The Best MTL Vape is: OXVA XLIM Pro 2 DNA Version
The best MTL kit of 2025 so far not only provides great flavour and easy use, but also has the Evolv DNA chipset onboard that actively prevents firing on an empty or depleted pod.
That’s a frankly revolutionary feature that eliminates a problem that’s plagued vaping since Day 1.
The Best Mouth to Lung Vapes in 2025 are:
- OXVA XLIM Pro 2 DNA Version
- OXVA XLIM SQ Pro 2
- Voopoo Argus G3 Mini
- Freemax Rexa Smart
- Geekvape Wenax Q2
- Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite
OXVA XLIM Pro 2 DNA Version
Burnt coils and ruined pods can be a thing of the past.
Price: £31.99

Why We Recommend It
- No Burn: DNA chip prevents burns
- Recall, Replay: Store the settings of your perfect puff
- Master of Wind: Intricately measured airflow
For what may be the first time in vaping history, the problem of accidentally burning a dry coil has been solved. The XLIM Pro 2, powered by Evolv’s DNA chip, can detect liquid levels in the pod and prevent dry firing.
That alone makes the OXVA XLIM Pro 2 DNA Version a revolutionary kit, and a 1300mAh battery with a 30W max output isn’t bad either! And as a personal note, I feel that the XLIM pods combined with the Pro 2 DNA’s airflow slider give me, personally, the perfect intake.

Pros
- No more burnt coils!
- The replay button allows you to store ideal inhale settings
- Delightful carbon-fibre inspired design
Cons
- No eco mode
- 1300mAh isn’t relatively as high as I’d like
OXVA XLIM SQ Pro 2
A slick, stylish and advanced pocket-sized pod kit.
Price: £25.49

Why We Recommend It
- Screen Presser: Dynamic touch screen interface
- Rack ‘Em Up: Expansive puff-count system
- Keep It Going: Excellent battery capacity
OXVA’s XLIM Kits have all been good, but the XLIM SQ Pro 2 feels downright futuristic. It’s WILDLY ahead of the original XLIM SQ Pro in terms of build and interface, with one of the most space-age touch-screens we’ve ever seen.
And even more impressively, they crammed all this functionality and a 1600mAh battery into a super-slim slab of pocket-friendly gold. Rarely is such an advanced device so portable, but well done OXVA for pulling it off.
In our separate, stand-alone review, we gave the OXVA XLIM SQ Pro 2 a solid 4.9 out of 5.
Pros
- Exceptionally comfy build
- Great battery life
- Cutting-edge touch-screen UI
Cons
- Touch screen swipes can be confusing
- Not many features beyond the touch-screen
Voopoo Argus G3 Mini
Compact, fuss-free and foolproof flavour with every puff.
Price: £15.95

Why We Recommend It
- Argus Awesomeness: Exceptional Argus Pod flavour carrying
- Can’t Get It Wrong: Absolutely foolproof design
- Bulky Battery: Remarkably long-lasting 1350mAh battery capacity
Now the Argus G3 Mini by Voopoo presents a pretty wild situation before us: what if the stripped-back, smaller version of a kit… was the better version? This is the first time I’ve ever encountered this occurring, but I have to say I’ve used the G3 Mini FAR MORE than I did the Argus G3 proper.
I don’t know if Voopoo would be happy to hear me say that, but the fact is the 1350mAh battery is lighter than air and can last LONGER than the full-sized version due to fewer features and no screen! Just a perfect little portable puff that won’t cause you any headaches.
We gave the Argus G3 Mini a score of 4.6 out of 5 in our review.
Pros
- Discreet and portable
- Power-saving streamlined design
- Delicious Argus pod flavour carrying
Cons
- The power-indication LED isn’t bright enough
- No airflow control
Freemax Rexa Smart
The MTL vape kit of Tomorrow
Price: £27.99

Why We Recommend It
- Super Computer: Ludicrously extensive menus and features
- Vapes and Vibez: Able to broadcast sounds and music
- Stonking Charge: Fantastic battery capacity
I’ve quite simply never encountered a vape with so many features, especially not an MTL kit! But you don’t just get a 1600mAh battery and 30W outputs with the Rexa Smart, oh no.
You also get screen themes, animations, sound effects, A BLUETOOTH MUSIC PLAYER, a calendar, a stopwatch, and a clock. In fact, you get so many features and extras that you might stop reaching for your phone and check your vape instead.

Pros
- As many features as a smart watch
- Bluetooth music through your vape!
- Incredibly extensive puff counter
Cons
- Casual vapers will find the menus frustrating
- Heavy despite the slight build
Geekvape Wenax Q2
Elegance, simplicity and excellent Geekvape Q Cartridges.
Price: £21.99

Why We Recommend It
- Chic Puffs: Gorgeous, attractive design
- Q Excellence: Delicious Geekvape Q Cartridge Pods
- Vape in Peace: Suite of safety features
Geekvape are up to old tricks with the Wenax Q2, which eschews the – if you’ll forgive me – cheap and plastic design of many Q devices to instead serve up a slice of sophistication.
The Wenax Q2 combines a chic and comfy build with long-lasting power and customisable interfaces. Not something Geekvape has focused on before, but the functionality of the kit is superb and flavoursome!
Pros
- OLED display screen
- Stylish, eye-catching design
- Precise airflow control slider
Cons
- 1250mAh is not quite up to all-day 30W use
- No firing button
Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite
Affordability meets flavour
Price: £9.99

Why We Recommend It
- Available to All: Very affordably priced
- Fast Charge: 2A-rated charge speeds
- Fuss-Free: Perfect for absolute beginners
The Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite may at first seem somewhat unremarkable to the experienced vaper. But in the wake of this summer’s disposables ban, plenty of Elf Bar fans are keen to continue vaping without frustration or maintenance.
And that’s what the Caliburn G3 Lite delivers. No menus, no buttons. Just fill it up, charge it up and go, with rich Pro-FOCS flavour that can rival that of any disposable vape’s inbuilt coil. Think of it as the perfect first refillable vape kit.
Pros
- Cheap and effective
- Rich flavour carrying
- Nothing to learn, fill and puff!
Cons
- Boring for anyone with experience
- No airflow slider

FAQ
What Kind of E-liquid Should I Use With A Mouth Lung Vape?
We recommend using either high-PG or 50 VG / 50 PG ratio e-liquids, as mouth-to-lung vaping kits are fitted with medium-to-high resistance coils that are designed to absorb thinner juices. Nic salts are universally thin in composition, so they are also a safe bet and make up some of the best MTL vape juice options for mouth-to-lung vaping.
Just be sure to avoid anything high-VG. For more info, check out our ultimate guide to PG/VG.
| PG/VG Ratio | MTL Vaping Capability |
|---|---|
| 70PG/30VG | Perfect. Light vapour, rich flavour and a strong throat hit (if using freebase nicotine). |
| 50VG/50PG | Suitable. Moderate vapour, good flavour and a noticeable throat hit. |
| 70VG/30PG | Poor. Thick clouds, lessened flavour and unable to efficiently absorb into MTL coils. |
Are MTL Vapes Suitable for Beginners?
Absolutely! In fact, in the vast majority of cases, we would always recommend MTL vapes to a new vaper just coming off cigarettes or disposable vapes. DTL vapes are excellent, and some vapers prefer the big cloud action they provide. However, we would encourage you to start out with an MTL kit and see how you get on. To learn more about MTL vape kits, we highly suggest checking our what is an MTL vape kit guide.
Does MTL Vape Give More Flavour?
Usually it is the case that MTL vaping produces richer flavours. This is for two reasons; PG is better at carrying flavour than the excessive VG you find in sub-ohm vape juices. This is coupled with the best MTL vape kits generating a more concentrated ‘beam’ of flavoursome vapour that doesn’t get diluted in a large cloud.
What wattage is good for MTL?
This can vary, but generally, MTL vape coils (meaning vape coils registering a resistance of 0.8ohm and higher) will require approximately 9W – 13W outputs. Many MTL vape kits will automatically set the appropriate wattage for coils used by MTL vapers.
