Geekvape has unleashed their Digi Pro R Kit hot on the heels of the Digi Max R. Taking in the similarity of these kits, if I were a gambling man, I’d wager that Geekvape is keen on cornering the sun-ohm pod kit market, but I’m not a gambler; I’m a critic.
This week, I’m turning my critical gaze towards the Digi Pro R. I’m keen to get a sense of what Geekvape has brought to the table with this very small kit. There are already sub-ohm pod pod kits; should you pick this one? That’s what we’re going to consider in this review.

MIST’s Verdict
Review Summary: The Geekvape Digi Pro R is a super intuitive and easy-to-use sub-ohm device. It’s perfectly sized for travelling and is geared towards taking your mind off of wattage outputs and mind-numbing figures and readouts.
Review Disclosure: Geekvape supplied me with the Digi Pro R Kit I reviewed this week. However, coupled with their generosity is respect for the impartial views and attitudes of reviewers, so the only things informing this review will be my own experiences as a vaper.

Packaging and Labels

The packaging of the Geekvape Digi Pro R resembles that of all other recent Geekvape releases: an orange cardboard box covered in an orange and silver sleeve.
- The front of the sleeve shows an image of the device, with the Geekvape logo above and the Digi Pro R device name below.
- The two sides of the sleeve display the Geekvape logo and social media links, respectively.
- The back of the sleeve lists nine product features, a contents list, contact information for Geekvape and a slew of certification symbols.
When you remove the sleeve, you’re presented with an orange envelope containing the device’s user manual. Underneath that, we finally find the device, placed on the left-hand side with a coilless Geekvape JR Cartridge already fitted in place.
The white box on the right of the device contains your two J Coils and the USB-C cable you’ll use to recharge the device.
Build Quality
Score: 5 out of 5
Geekvape smashed it out of the park in terms of physical design. The Digi Pro R’s 103.19mm x 32.30mm dimensions are smaller than those of many disposable vape kits, yet it contains a slew of advanced functions (we’ll touch these on in the Performance section).
Mod

The device has a gentle matte steel brush against the fingers—not too brutal but sanded enough for you to have no trouble gripping it. Geekvape is often fond of faux-leather grip panels, like on the Aegis Legend 3 mod, but this time, they’ve opted for an all-steel and plastic approach, which I think looks classy.
The zinc alloy primarily used for casing is popular with vape manufacturers. It’s not particularly glitzy to look at, but it couples durability with a very light carry build. In my very weird opinion, the metal is thin enough that it matches hand temperature quite fast. There’s nothing worse than clutching a big hunk of freezing metal in the winter!
The sides and back of the device are plain and featureless, while the base of the kit features the USB-C charging port right next to a dedicated lock switch. This lock prevents the button from firing the device or accidentally opening menus, making it more pocket-friendly.
Screen
The front of the kit features a Geekvape logo above a firing button and the angled full-colour display screen, which has some touch functions. The screen is 0.96″, and when fired, it shows the same default animation as the one found on the Digi Max R.

While the whole screen doesn’t have the same scroll-through ‘tappability,’ two printed white arrows beneath the backlit part of the screen help you navigate menus, options and power settings. It’s just as functional as the screen on the Digi Max R, just slightly smaller.
Pod

The kit comes with the Geekvape JR Cartridge, which is almost identical to the disposable J cartridges. It allows you to remove and replace J coils, ultimately saving you cash on new vape parts in the future (new coils always cost less than disposable pods!).

The pods continue to showcase a BRILLIANT airflow slider built into the side of the mouthpiece. The slider is easy to manipulate and won’t move on its own. It is, in my opinion, the best pod-based airflow adjuster I’ve ever encountered.
Performance
Score: 4.5 out of 5
Performance-wise, the Digi Pro R does an excellent job of performing its stated task: producing large quantities of thick vapour in any setting you can sneak it into.
The kit’s maximum power output is 40W, which, while not the highest sub-ohm pod kit watermark, is still significantly more powerful than the majority of vape kits and pod kits of this size.
The device has three user modes: Eco, Smart, and Boost. Each of them can be read as a kind of ‘smart’ mode.
- ‘Smart’ mode sets your wattage to the most optimal output, with some slight adjustment
- Eco uses the lowest recommended wattage for your given coil
- Boost uses your coil’s highest power setting.
It’s a unique take on ‘Low/Medium/High’ power settings, with a little bit of wiggle room on the Smart setting
I think it’s a bit frustrating that Geekvape removed the Custom mode you can find in the Digi Max R, as having full control over your wattage is always nice when wattage is a displayed metric. Also, the printed arrows on the display screen showing you where to ‘press’ are misleading as you get FAR better device response from swiping, which isn’t explained.
However, there is something to be said for the benefits a new sub-ohm vaper can find in a vape that will not allow you to take the wattage to unrecommended heights.
And as a final note on customisation, you do have the ability to alter or switch off the LEDs that border the display screen, in the event you find them too eyecatching or colourful.
Ease of Use
Score: 5 out of 5
Believe me, I spent a while trying to use the Digi Pro R incorrectly, but it was just too accessible to make a mistake.
Okay, that’s an exaggeration. There are obvious things you should never do, like trying to fire an empty pod with a dry coil. But outside of that particular instance, I’m having trouble figuring out how you could go wrong using the Digi Pro R.
As mentioned above, all three modes are effectively a kind of Smart mode, giving you the lowest, most optimal, or highest outputs your coil can comfortably handle. Even Boost mode just takes your coil to the extent of what it can manage rather than taking it beyond safe power ranges.
As a result, you really can’t go wrong using it. The screen is detail-heavy, and the battery power indicator features a number rather than a diminishing LED symbol, which is great to see.
Battery Life
Score: 4 out of 5
2000mAh is quite impressive for a vape of this size. It’s slightly less impressive when considering the 3000mAh battery of the Digi Max R, but that’s the price we pay for a more pocket-friendly unit.
The battery is large enough to handle most all-day outputs across the kit’s 40W power range. However, if you plan to exclusively use Boost mode’s high outputs, you may want to carry a power bank in your bag for an emergency lunchtime recharge.
Flavour Output
Score: 4 out of 5
The taste of the Digi Pro R kit is entirely due to the Geekvape J Coils. The coils’ flavour is certainly tasty and will provide you with an enjoyable puff every time.
So why 4 out of 5? Why not 5?
Well, they couldn’t quite impress me with them. The J Coils have great flavour; there is no question about that. But it’s 2025; MOST coils now have mesh interiors and unique quality wicks.
In order to award a perfect score for flavour, I feel the coil range or the mod needs to do something a little out of the ordinary. These tasty coils get a 4 out of 5, which is still excellent.
It’s just not a ‘stand out’ flavour, you understand?
Cloud Output
Score: 5 out of 5
Now, whereas flavour was ‘fine’ if it was unexciting, the cloud production capabilities of the Digi Pro R are exceptional and beyond reproach! And that’s probably what you’re investigating about a sub-ohm pod kit.
The extended mesh chimney inside the J Coils promotes thicker clouds, giving them longer to gather before emerging from the mouthpiece. While 40W isn’t quite competition level in power output, it’s enough to turn any 70VG-or-up e-liquid into a thick, corporeal cloud of ghostly aromas.
The pod-based airflow slider is also perfect for controlling cloud levels.
Summary
The Geekvape Digi Pro R is a super intuitive and easy-to-use sub-ohm device. It’s perfectly sized for travelling and is geared towards taking your mind off of wattage outputs and mind-numbing figures and readouts.
If you’re interested in portable sub-ohm pod vaping but feel a 40W max output isn’t quite gonna do it for you, consider the Digi Max R alternative for a larger battery, more power outputs, and a more advanced UI.

- Smart Tech: The decision to remove wattage control from sub-ohm vapers is a bold one, but it makes big cloud vaping far more accessible to a curious audience that isn’t interested in the technical aspects of their hardware.
