The Wenax Q Ultra is the latest device to join Geekvape’s Wenax vape range. Unlike its predecessors, it features a drastically increased degree of design sophistication and a clear desire to flex its tech —hello, touchscreen! The question now is, is it as good as it looks?

MIST’s Verdict
Review Summary: While the kit isn’t remarkably unique in terms of function, its UI is gorgeous and something I’d love to see rolled out to other lines of vape kit.
Review Disclosure: Geekvape supplied me with the Wenax Q Ultra device I’ve been testing this week. While generous, Geekvape is aware that my thoughts and opinions are impartial and informed only by my own experiences as a vaper of over ten years. The e-liquids I used for this review were the new Barliq range of bar salts from Zeus Juice, which I’ll have a separate review up for soon.

Packaging and Labels

The Geekvape Q Ultra arrives in a cardboard box covered by a silver and orange cardboard sleeve.
- The front of the sleeve shows the device along with a TPD health warning.
- One side of the sleeve displays the Geekvape logo, and the other side shows various symbols of certification and age restriction.
- The back of the sleeve lists several features of the device, a contents list, an authenticity QR code and contact information for Geekvape, along with another health warning.
Removing the sleeve, you are presented with an orange cardboard packet containing the user manual. Beneath this packet, you’ll find the kit to the left with a 0.6ohm Q cartridge installed (separated by a sticker on the pod’s base). To the right, you’ll see the spare 0.8ohm pod just above the box containing the included USB-C chagrin cable.
The device’s screen will have a thin plastic film on it at first, which you can peel off at your convenience.
Build Quality
Score: 4.5 out 5

The Wenax Q Ultra feels a lot like previous Wenax units when used. Although it’s chunkier than other Wenax devices, particularly the Wenax U.
That extra heft will likely be due to the increased battery capacity and a larger surface needed for the impressive 2.51” display screen. By the way, the screen isn’t just colorful and dynamic; it is also touch-sensitive and acts as the primary set of controls for the device.
There is a button on one side of the device. but in a move that’s becoming more and more standard in vape designs, the button isn’t designed for firing the kit. Instead, it provides quick on/off and wattage controls to those who don’t want to navigate the touch-screen menus.
The airflow slider is, unfortunately, restrictive. The 30W max outputs of the device excited me for some RDL use, but you aren’t going to produce massive clouds with this airflow slider. It’s not what the kit was intended for anyway, but still slightly frustrating to me.

We also see a return of the Q Cartridges, which use improved meshes and wicks for richer flavours and utilise some basic but very effective anti-leaking materials to ensure a smooth, clean vaping session.
Performance
Score: 4.5 out of 5
In terms of performance, the Wenax Q Ultra operates very similarly to previous Wenax devices but with the added benefit of the touch-screen interface. And, yes, it is responsive without noticeable delays (the haptic feedback/rumble feature really makes it clear how quick the response is).
The device has a power range of 8-30W, with an advanced chipset onboard the mod, which accurately reads the ohmage/resistance of any Q cartridge inserted and instantly sets the wattage to an optimal range.

You can manually adjust this, but the device will prevent you from using a cartridge beyond the recommended maximum power. This might annoy some vapers, but Wenax users generally enjoy convenient performance and will likely find this helpful and welcome.
While the button on the side of the device can be used to turn the kit on (5 taps) or change the wattage (3 taps), the user is encouraged to utilise the advanced 2.51” touchscreen user interface to navigate the device’s functions.

With commands very similar to a smartphone, you can ‘drag’ the menu down from the top of the screen, swiping right to return to previous screens or swiping up to leave the menu altogether.

The touch screen provides functions regarding power output, on-screen themes and animations, and power customisation of various features on the kit, and you can also access an invaluable and comprehensive guide on how to use the kit.

The text is relatively small and may be hard to read for some, but it’s impressive to see what appears to be nearly a whole instruction manual installed onto the device itself.
Ease of Use
Score: 5
Having a user manual installed onto the device, as mentioned above, is just one of the reasons I’m scoring the Wenax Q Ultra highly for ease of use.

Initially, I was hesitant, as the Wenax Q Ultra is much more advanced and sophisticated than other Wenax kits, but a lot of effort has been put into ensuring that the Wenax Q Ultra is easy for beginners to pick up and use.

The device will prevent you from setting a wattage output your chosen Q cartridge can’t handle. It also springs to life when you pick it up, though this function can be switched off to save battery if you prefer.
With easy top-fill refills, a mostly buttonless interface, and no bizarre or unique modes to get lost in, the Wenax Q Ultra’s ease of use is superb.
Battery Life
Score: 4.5 out of 5
At 1300mAh, the Wenax Q Ultra has the largest battery of any previous Wenax kit, most of which cap out at 1000mAh. The device also recharges very rapidly due to the 2A-rated charging speeds.
Add to this the ability to disengage power-draining functions such as haptic rumble feedback and motion detection, and you can really stretch the battery out for a long time. However, a user has to know those customisation options are available on the device, and they’ll only find them if they go exploring.
Flavour Output
Score: 4.5 out of 5
The Q Cartridges are still some of the more flavoursome pods available, utilising Geekvape’s VPU coil design that increases mesh size and upgrades the wicking materials for pure flavours that last longer.
The device has no modes that increase flavour production, but this isn’t a surprise for a relatively simple MTL pod kit. The simple inclusion of the Q Cartridges is all it takes to give the device great flavour.
Summary
The Wenax Q Ultra may seem like a very different beast to the other Wenax units, but on closer inspection, it provides the same easy satisfaction but now with better battery life, a high-tech user interface, and some power customisation options.
While the kit isn’t remarkably unique in terms of function, its UI is gorgeous and something I’d love to see rolled out to other lines of vape kits.
The MIST Favourite Feature:
- 2.51” Touch Screen: Easily the most advanced UI I’ve seen on a pod kit. The menus snap around smoothly and are intuitive to navigate. And hey, if you don’t like it, they let you use a button instead. It’s always nice to have options.
