The Horizontech SAKERZ tank is about as sci-fi as a vape tank can get while still being human technology!

Horizontech are fast making a name for themselves as manufacturers of incredibly sophisticated sub ohm vape tanks, and the SAKERZ is at least partially responsible for this reputation.

The SAKERZ tank features a truly inventive top airflow system. Placing the airflow ports on the top of the tank cuts out the number one cause of leaks, and the internal airways are intelligently designed so as to ensure an almost silent inhale. Sub-ohm tanks normally have a tell-tale “hiss” during inhales, but the SAKERZ is quiet as a mouse.

The top fill has also been upgraded from previous Horizontech tanks to cut back on leaks from the dual liquid ports.

With an 810 wide bore drip tip, coils in the 0.16ohm range and a dual coil in the 0.17ohm range, you can be certain that the Horizontech SAKERZ is absolutely a sub-ohm tank, and isn’t suited to MTL use.

But if you’re in the market for a powerful, cloudy and mess free sub-ohm tank you can’t do much better than the Horizontech SAKERZ!

Juice Saving: Change coils without losing juice
Affordable Coil System: EUC coils cheaper than most sub-ohm coils
Leak Resistant: Top airflow prevents liquid leaks

Vaporesso’s Veco tank has been around for a few years now, but that just shows how ahead of their time Vaporesso were!

The Veco tank is a cute and small top fill tank which fits onto almost any vape device with a surprising number of design elements. The airflow ports are based on the top of the tank just beneath the drip tip, meaning there’s nowhere for leaks to emerge from the event that the juice comes loose!

The Veco also features a metal reservoir that allows you to change your coil with a half full tank and not lose any liquid!

The Veco coils are also very standout; the EUC system uses less materials resulting in a small, cheaper mesh coil that nonetheless provides the same amount of vaping output as much larger and more expensive coils. There are even ceramic EUCs for those who want their replacement coils to last a little longer than usual.

The Vaporesso Veco tank has coils ranging from 0.3ohm to 0.6ohm, so it’s very much a sub-ohm tank. However with the top airflow you’ll find that thinner juices don’t leak from the tank, just beware that they’re going to come out strong and cloudy!

Durable Build: Metal casing ensures protection
MTL Specific: Ideal for use with thinner vape liquids
Leak Proof: Top based airflow prevents liquid leaks

Geekvape are best known for powerful, sub-ohm tanks like the Zeus and Cerberus tanks, so it’s a pleasant surprise to see them release such a solidly built MTL tank!

The Geekvape Z MTL Tank features sturdy metal plating with a funky ‘Z’ window allowing you to accurately gauge your juice levels and how much of the 2ml tank capacity you’ve used while utilising the top fill system.

One of the notable anti-leak features of the Geekvape Z MTL Tank is the adjustable airflow ring at the top of the tank beneath the drip tip, which draws the air in and funnels it down to where the coil is, ensuring that any juice that slips out of the coil won’t emerge from the airflow.

With both 0.8ohm and 1.2ohm coils available, the Geekvape Z MTL Tank is good for both MTL and RDL use, but is best not used as a sub-ohm tank as the coils aren’t quite up to absorbing thicker vape juices.

The Geekvap Z MTL Tank is the best leak proof vape tank for mouth to lung vapers and is certain to provide immense satisfaction to any vaper looking for a tank which more on the moderate side when it comes to vapour production.

Why Does Your Vape Tank Leak?

Leaky tanks have been an issue as long as vaping has been around. It’s an unfortunate aspect of vape tanks, however as you’ve seen in the roundup above many MTL and sub ohm tank manufacturers are taking steps to eliminate this irritating issue.

There are several reasons why your tank might be leaking. The first and most common issue is that your coil is ‘dead’, worn out, exhausted. Eventually the cottons in the coil will become completely sodden and unable to efficiently absorb vape liquid anymore, at which point you may see excess e liquid escaping through the airflow ring.

Another reason is that you may be using the wrong e liquid! Sub-ohm coils (coils with a resistance of less than 1.0ohms) are usually designed for thicker liquids, and so filling a vape tank with thin vape juice with either a 50/50 PG/VG ratio – or e liquid with a higher PG content than VG – is likely to result in the watery e liquid slipping around the coil and exiting your tank.

Finally, sometimes a leak is simple because a coil isn’t fully screwed in, and even a hairline gap in the coil’s threading is likely to result in a bit of a messy situation.

So, in the event of a leaky tank, take these steps:

  1. Check that your coil heads are still in good health and produces good flavour.
  2. Check the VG/PG ratio of your juice and ensure you aren’t using 50/50 or high PG juice with a sub-ohm coil.
  3. Ensure that your coil is screwed in tightly.

For other ways you can fix your leaky tank, check out our in-depth guide about how to fix a leaky vape.

If none of these steps are fixing the issue, your MTL or sub ohm tank may have sustained slight damage that is allowing the e liquid to escape, and you may wish to look into purchasing a new vape tank.
