UK-based vape brand IVG made headlines last year by introducing the IVG 2400, a revolutionary disposable vape that lets you try four flavours with just one device. But since disposable vapes are on the way out, what’s the next big thing can we expect from IVG? The IVG 6000 – a range of bar salts, loaded with the kind of intense flavours ordinarily reserved for disposable vape devices.
In this review, I’ll try ten flavours from the IVG 6000 line of nic salts and determine whether or not they’re worth having in your e-liquid rotation.
MIST’s Verdict
Review Summary: IVG’s 6000 nic salts use a lovely array of fruity flavours with just the right amount of sweetener and ice to be zesty without a taste that lingers longer than it should.
Review Disclosure: IVG provided MIST with the IVG 6000 nic salts for this review. However, our opinions remain unbiased and independent.
Packaging and Labels
The front of the packaging used for the IVG 6000 Nic Salt range features an image of the bottle within, as well as the flavour, nicotine strength, and a TPD-compliant health warning. The other sides feature contact and address information of the brand, a basic ingredients list, and medical advice for what to do if the e-liquid is accidentally ingested.
The bottle features the brand logo, the flavour within, and a replica of the medical advice, which was printed on the box.
Every bottle features a child-proof cap and a thin nozzle that fits into any MTL kit’s refill port.
Flavour
Score: 5/5
The IVG 6000 range has ten flavours to select from:
- Strawberry Raspberry Crysh
- Arctic Apple
- Raspberry Peach Bliss
- Bubblegum Berry Wave
- Cherry Chew
- Lemon Peach Crush
- Pink Pop
- Berrylicious Blast
- Blue Frost
- Sourberry Fusion
All of these flavours are available at MIST. As of this writing, they are currently 3 for £9.99.
While all are available in 20mg and 10mg, I used 10mg versions for my trials as that suits my usual nicotine intake.
As for the vape device, I used Voopoo Doric E Pod Kit with 0.7ohm ITO Pods as it is simple to use and perfect for nicotine salts and bar salts.
Overall, I found the fruity and cold juices in the IVG 6000 range to be very vibrantly flavoured, with clear and noticeable tastes found in each one. Some didn’t quite match up to the stated flavour; for example, Cherry Chew was meant to have a gummy sweet flavour, but I found it far more similar to a cold glass of cherry soda. The good thing is that the ice used in each e-liquid was gentle enough not to overpower the flavour profile.
Strawberry Raspberry Crush
Score: 4/5
A really powerful strawberry punch at first inhale. Juicy, dominating, sugary, but not so much as to taste like candy. The raspberry holds off, which I was pleased about as I wanted to get a real feel for IVG’s strawberry. There’s a nice but restrained level of iciness to the brew that refreshes but doesn’t impact the flavour at all.
Ultimately more of a strawberry juice than raspberry, but a really, really good example of one.
Arctic Apple
Score: 4/5
I immediately got the distinctive taste of sour apple chewy sweets. The ice is quite interesting in this one; usually, I keep my airflow tight, and I notice little to no ice at all. When I opened the airflow up for restricted-direct-lung vaping, the ice suddenly burst forth with a glacial chill that really suited the sour apple flavour. It’s an odd aspect, but it’s nice to be able to manually adjust your own ice levels between puffs!
Raspberry Peach Bliss
Score: 4/5
Deeply sumptuous and mellow peach pressings ahoy. Way more naturally flavoured than the vast majority of peach e-liquids, as well. The raspberry once again takes it easy, much like in Strawberry Raspberry Crush, and once again I’m glad as it would be a terrible shame to cover up this marvellous peach flavour with too much zesty berry juice.
Bubblegum Berry Wave
Score: 4/5
After reading the name of the juice I was a bit taken aback by the unexpected – but very welcome – appearance of rich watermelon flavour. This tropical tang was accompanied by a rich squirt of strawberry juice, two summery and playful fruit flavours very at home with eachother.
The bubblegum taste is a bit hard to find, but the juice has a gentle candy edge that really brings out the fruit’s natural sugars.
Cherry Chew
Score: 5/5
Now THAT is the exact taste and flavour of a sparkling glass of cool cherryade! Many vape juice manufacturers have attempted this blend but IVG are the first who I can confidently say pulled it off without issue. The cherry flavour is rich and slightly tart, bursting with juicy taste notes. The ‘fizz’ comes in slightly after, elevating a fruit vape into a beverage brew and delivering excellent soda notes. The slight ice also gives it that ‘straight from the fridge’ refreshment.
Lemon Peach Crush
Score: 3/5
The lemon flavour takes charge in this e-juice, with a tasty citrus tang accompanied by what tastes like just the slightest edge of sherbert or some kind of candy, sanding off the sharper aspects of this famous fruit. The peach taste is a bit more laid-back than it was in Raspberry Peach Bliss, allowing the lemon to take centre stage but providing some grounding sweetness to prevent any tangy buildup from occurring.
Pink Pop
Score: 3/5
Pink Pop promises a mix of grapefruit and lemonade flavours, and the citrus notes are particularly noticable. I will admit to being slightly disappointed by the grapefruit as I was hoping for more of a sour plunge, but it does provide a slightly tart aspect that serves to counter the sweetness of lemonade.
This is one of the weaker e-liquids I have tried so far today, as I didn’t find either flavour especially stand out in terms of strength. However, it is a rather nice beverage vape with a slight twist, which many may enjoy.
Berrylicious Blast
Score: 4/5
The blueberry notes are quite strong in this juice, which is unusual when considering that particular fruit’s usually gentle and subtle profile. The characteristic dryness of cranberry also comes across very clearly, though the cherry taste is a bit muted in the overall profile.
Still, that being said, the blueberry and cranberry go together wonderfully, with just enough ice to elevate the blueberry without overwhelming the bouquet with too much frosted energy.
Blue Frost
Score: 5/5
Blue Frost aims to capture the nostalgic essence of blue slush drinks, a mainstay poolside treat enjoyed in the summertime. I was honestly just expecting blueberry and ice, but there’s definitely something else at work in this that really elevates the profile.
The berry flavour is extremely gentle, more a hint of fruitiness amidst a pleasantly plain sugar taste with a lovely dose of frosty ice to bring home that slushie vibe. It all comes together beautifully, resulting in a rare vape juice that’s more than the sum of its parts.
Sourberry Fusion
Score: 3/5
I really hate to say that I was not a fan of Sourberry Fusion. The name and green packaging had me thinking I was going to try a gooseberry vape juice, which would have been a first! As it stands it’s a tasty blend of blueberry and raspberry, which is fairly common but with the added benefit of additional sour taste.
There’s a very nice lingering ice to this juice, it doesn’t impact the flavour too much but it sticks around to ensure you don’t become overloaded with berry flavour when on an intense vape session.
Throat Hit
Score: 4 / 5
As is often the case with bar salts, the IVG 6000 range had a very gentle throat hit, similar to using a disposable vape. The benzoic acid used in the nicotine solution reduces the alkaline content of the vape juice, making it less harsh when vaped.
It should be noted that a throat hit is detectable due to the ice used in the e-liquids, which while gentle and refreshing, may be somewhat uncomfortable if vaped on a particularly cold day.
Vapour Production
Score: 3 / 5
As the IVG 6000 range is brewed at a 50PG / 50VG ratio, the vape juices only produced a minimal amount of vapour when exhaled, similar to the amount of smoke exhaled from a cigarette.
Vapers who use the IVG 6000 range with open airflows for RDL inhales are likely to see an increase in vapour, however it disperses very quickly.
Summary
The IVG 6000 range is a marvellous bar salt range, perfect for vapers seeking to move away from disposable vapes in the leadup to the upcoming UK ban.
It will suit vapers who enjoy sweet and cold fruit flavours, though anyone with a preference for desserts or tobacco flavours will likely enjoy other ranges more than this very fruit-centric one.
The MIST Favourite:
Cherry Chew
I was thoroughly satisfied with Cherry Chew. While it failed to evoke memories of fruity chew sweets, it instead acted as a perfect cherry soda vape, blending sour and sweet tastes perfectly and delivering a ‘straight from the fridge’ sensation with the well-balanced use of ice.
