The Best Vape Tank Overall is The: Voopoo Uforce-L Tank

The Voopoo Uforce-L vape tank is the total package for every kind of vaper. The sub-ohm capabilities are phenomenal, with rich flavour from the easily installed PnP coils and suppressed sound from the mammoth triple-vent airflow. Even MTL vapers can enjoy it if they select a 1.2ohm PnP-TR1 Coil, making it the best vape tank of 2023!

Best MTL Vape Tanks

MTL (mouth-to-lung) vape tank devices are intended to simulate the cigarette smoking experience. Though not always, they are generally smaller and thinner than other tanks.MTL vape tank units take high-resistance coils that use low-wattage outputs to atomize moderate amounts of 50/50 or high-PG e-liquid. Plus, the best MTL vape tanks make the switch from smoking a streamlined process, with little to no fuss or maintenance required beyond fresh coils.

Messless

Killer Coils

Slipless Slide

Firm sliding top fill prevents liquid leaks

We first encountered Nautilus 3 when it debuted with the Zelos 3, and it instantly became one of the best aspects of the kit. Why? There are several reasons.

First is its design. Frequently, MTL tanks can be basic in design, but the Nautilus 3 Tank delivers a stunning package. It is a little chunkier than some MTL tanks but still sits comfortably on most all vape mods. We said most because there is a little bit of an overhang with skinnier mods.

Another reason why we love the Nautilus 3 is it’s fully compatible with the long-celebrated Nautilus Coil series. What does this mean for you? Well, you get to access coils in different resistances, ranging from isha-style 0.4ohms to cig-esque 1.8ohms. Our favourite is the 1.8ohm coil because of the flavour that it delivers!

We also love its refill port! Most vape tanks have a flimsy rubber hatch, but the Nautilus 3 rocks a sliding-top refill mechanism that is rigid and stiff, but in a good way. Whenever we had to top up the tank with juice, there was no wobble, whether open or closed. And most importantly, there were no leaks!

But the best feature we really admire is that you can replace its coil with a tank full of juice. We know sounds gimmicky, but trust us. It’s a game-changer.

In summary, we believe that the Aspire Nautilus 3 Tank has it all. It’s user-friendly, durable and boasts impressive tank features, making it MIST’s choice for the best MTL tank in 2023.

Pros

  • Robust and durable design
  • Coils ranging from 0.4ohms – 1.8ohms
  • Seven different air adjustment settings

Cons

  • The build is too heavy for some
  • Glass is firm but entirely exposed

Verse Vape: Compatible with both MTL and DTL coils
Air Supply: Large air inlets for high VG vaping
Long Draw: Lengthened mouthpiece for optimal MTL inhales

Lost Vape is best known for its cloud kits, ordinarily aimed at a passionate RTA-using fan base. But when we looked at the UB Lite Tank, it soon became apparent that we were dealing with a rather versatile piece of vape gear.

The Lost Vape UB Lite Tank appears at first glance to be an exclusively MTL tank, with a mouthpiece that suits mouth-to-lung inhales. But the bulky, colourful steel casing hints at a cloudier functionality.

While the 1.2ohm UB Lite Coil delivers a richly flavoured and deeply satisfying MTL inhale, the 0.3ohm coil that comes included is perfectly designed for use with high-VG e-liquids.

This makes the Lost Vape UB Lite Tank remarkably versatile, with lower ohmages on offer than even the Nautilus 3 can match. This makes the UB Lite Tank one of the best options for MTL vapers who enjoy the occasional cloudy diversion.

Pros

  • Capable of both MTL and DTL vaping
  • Great airflow control
  • Reliable Lost Vape build design

Cons

  • Quite a chunky build
  • Heavy design

Flava Fave: Rich flavour from the Aspire BVC Coils
Off The Top: Easy top refilling system
Skinny Fit: Thin enough to sit comfortably on any mod

Most mouth-to-lung vapers are flavour chasers. And we’re confident that the K Lite Tank will deliver you the most flavourful puffs ever.

Also made by Aspire, the K Lite Tank uses the BVC Coil series. Keep in mind that these are different from the mentioned Nautilus coils, they do, however, feature the same organic cotton and kanthal materials to deliver intensely flavoursome inhales.

In order to maximise the flavour from the coils, Aspire placed a tight airflow ring at the base of the tank. When we closed it, we received a tighter, more concentrated “beam” of vapour. In our experience, it’s the best method for flavour production, which this tank is geared towards.

The ‘tight’ vapour delivery is also assisted by the long and tapered mouthpiece, which we felt was reminiscent of a cigarette filter.

Another great feature is that you can refill the tank using the top cap. Our team was pleasantly surprised to find that it’s child-proofed.

So, when taste is your primary focus, we highly recommend the Aspire K Lite, the best MTL tank for flavour in 2023.

Pros

  • Great use of Aspire BVC Coils
  • Clear view through the juice chamber
  • Comfortable tapered mouthpiece

Cons

  • Exposed glass can be easily broken
  • Slightly restrictive airflow settings

Best Sub-Ohm Vape Tanks

Sub-ohm vape tank units are intended for DTL (direct-to-lung) vaping. Unlike MTL vape tank options, you puff them much like an inhaler, taking the large quantities of vapour directly down to the lung with no stopover in the mouth cavity.

The best sub-ohm vape tanks are often a little wider and take low-resistance coils (sub 1.0ohm… get it?) that use high wattage outputs to generate massive vapour clouds from high-VG e-liquids.

The Best Sub-Ohm Vape Tanks Are:

Best Vape Tanks for Flavour

The best vape tanks for flavour are intricately designed to convey as much flavour as possible from your e-liquid. Many elements work towards delivering the highest flavour plateaus, from meshed coils to expansive airflow, tapered drip tips and easy cleaning access for your vape tank.

Both MTL and DTL vapers will be pleased to hear that there are great-tasting vape tanks for all styles of vapers.

Remarkably quiet ‘hiss’ for a sub-ohm tank

PnPerfection

Full compatibility with the excellent PnP Coil series

Voopoo has produced the best flavour-focused vape tank with the Uforce-L Tank, which, surprisingly, still uses PnP coils. The coils, which we found very easy to install into the tank, are available in a wide range of coil resistances. As a matter of fact, there’s even an MTL PnP Coil available.

The tank, however, is a little bit “top-heavy” on smaller vape mods. However, if you can get past the size, it’s an incredibly functional tank in regard to flavour and vapour production.

We are a fan of its heat-sink design, which prevented both mouth discomfort and coil damage when we set the mod to high wattage. There’s also a triple-inlet adjustable airflow that tremendously helped with producing large clouds while conveying the highest flavour concentration. And, the last remarkable feature is the surprisingly quiet turbo airflow system, which cuts back on the characteristic “hiss” that often accompanies sub-ohm vaping.

The Voopoo Uforce-L Tank is the best vape tank for flavour in 2023, laden with comprehensive features and approachable usability.

Pros

  • Great airflow design
  • Heat-sink build to preserve coils
  • Compatible with the entire PnP Coil series

Cons

  • Quite a large build
  • ‘Quiet’ sub-ohming is still noisier than MTL

Cloud Crown: Nothing does clouds like an RDA
Squeeze Please: Fully compatible with squonk mods
Postless Pleasure: Postless design for maximum workspace

Few sub-ohm vape tanks can provide the raw and direct flavour of a Rebuildable Dripping Atomiser (RDA), and the Geekvape Talo X RDA is one of the best you can get.
The Talo X RDA features a postless interior space, which, in simple terms, provides you with the maximum room in which to fit and install your DIY sub-ohm coils, of which you have space for two.

The extremely low-profile may be off-putting, but what you’ll get is more flavour because there’s less space for vapour to travel. The drip-tip is also made from Ultem, ensuring it won’t increase in temperature even when using the Bypass and TC modes on your vape mod.

The Talo X is also perfectly squonk-compatible, coming with a bottom-feeding pin included for those who prefer to squeeze their way to fresh juice, removing the annoyance of frequent bottle top-ups.

While RDAs aren’t intended for newcomers, they give invested vapers a way to experience the most enormous clouds and purest flavours possible. The Geekvape Talo X RDA is one of the best you can get, with simple fittings for your own coils and airflow settings that put control of clouds and flavour into your hands.

Pros

  • Postless deck for simple installations
  • Squonk-appropriate
  • Ultem components for temperature comfort

Cons

  • Not for beginners
  • Shallow profile drip-tip is not to all tastes

Leakless Life: Unique adjustable airflow reduces leaks
Honey Hype: Honeycomb breath inlets allow cloud customisation
TA Daa!: Compatible with the SMOK TA Mesh Coil series

While leaks are often unavoidable when vaping, SMOK put a lot of time into ensuring a mess-free experience when using their T-Air Subtank.

The most notable aspect of the leak-resistant tank is its airflow control, which is a unique honeycomb ring wrapped above the glass. The numerous inlets permit airflow and cloud control rarely seen in a vape tank, which also assists your air movement and general flavour carrying with every direct-lung draw.

The SMOK TA mesh coils are easily pushed into place, a significant advancement from SMOK’s classic screw-in mesh coil designs. Mesh coil elements and organic cotton wicks ensure a smooth, pure layer of flavour. It should be noted that the T-Air Subtank only has sub-ohm coils available, so if you prefer MTL, you should look elsewhere.

The SMOK T-Air Subtank provides a leak-proof design and a rich taste from every cloudy puff. However, those seeking a cigarette replacement setup may prefer something more moderate.

Pros

  • Maximum airflow control adjustment
  • Tight and compact build size
  • Leakproof airway placement

Cons

  • The mouthpiece is a little too wide
  • Exposed glass, somewhat fragile

High and Tight

Raised air inlets prevent e-juice leaks

Triple Threat

Three quiet airways for maximum cloud production

Sleek Sink

Heat-sink design prevents temperature-increasing

It takes something special to stand out as the best vape tank that doesn’t leak, but the Voopoo Uforce-L Tank delivers a stunning suite of features.

Though the build is somewhat broad and may eclipse thinner batteries, the Uforce-L uses that scale to significant effect. Traditionally, sub-ohm tanks are pretty loud. However, the internal airways in the Uforce-L have been specifically designed to reduce noise, resulting in a stealthy sub-ohm tank.

Speaking of airways, the Uforce-L sub-ohm tank boasts a remarkable three separate inlets. This provides you with greater airflow than 99% of tanks and results in phenomenal cloud production.

The Uforce-L is compatible with the full range of PnP replacement coils, with ohmages ranging from 0.15 ohms to 1.2 ohms. This provides you with surprising versatility, with even MTL coils fitting in easily with push-to-fit installation.

The Voopoo Uforce-L Tank is the best of the bunch regarding leak-resistant tanks and will give cloud-chasing vapers the ride of their lives.

Pros

  • Compatible with full PnP Coil range
  • Stealthy sub-ohm tank sound suppression
  • Three air inlets for increased vapour production

High Honey: Raised honeycomb airway prevents e-juice leaks
Value Vape: Incredible price for such a great sub-ohm tank
Derlin Darlin’: Derlin drip tip maintains a comfortable temperature

The SMOK T-Air Subtank felt like a returning champion when we first unboxed it. Built-in a similar style to older SMOK sub-ohm tank units like the Baby Beast, the T-Air Subtank showcases an old-school look.

However, on closer inspection, we can begin to appreciate newer vape tank design elements, including features that will prevent e-liquid spills!

The airflow adjustment ring has been placed high up top, a great way to stop e-liquid from escaping your sub-ohm tank. Looking closer, you’ll see that the airflow adjustment ring has a honeycomb design. Dozens of small air inlets allow you to customize your precise airflow level intricately, resulting in clouds that best suit you.

Meshed SMOK TA Coils are available in 0.15ohms, 0.2ohms and 0.4ohms, with more straightforward than ever push-to-fit installation, a far cry from SMOK’s old screw-in designs from yesteryear!

And one of the best things about the T-Air Subtank is the price. While not the cheapest sub-ohm tank on the list, we feel it’s the best value in providing a rich and cloudy sub-ohm experience at just over twenty pounds.

Pros

  • Unique honeycomb airways for total cloud control
  • Raised airflow for e-liquid security
  • A highly affordable sub-ohm tank

  • Included coils can only handle 45W outputs
  • No sliding top-fill convenience

High-Top: Airflow kept above the e-liquid chamber to prevent spills
Post-Posts: Postless deck design for more accessible working space
Honey Bee: Honeycombed internal air paths for maximum clouds

Nothing kicks out clouds like your own coils you built yourself, and the Hellvape Dead Rabbit 3 RTA provides a superbly convenient and user-friendly way to reap the benefits of homemade atomizers.

Unlike RDAs, RTAs provide an e-liquid catchment area, so you don’t have to reapply e-juice to your coil deck frequently.

The Dead Rabbit 3 has been built with a postless deck, which means you have far more room to work with when installing your homemade coils. This makes the delicate work achievable even for someone just getting started on DIY coils.

A raised adjustable airflow system helps eliminate e-liquid leaks while providing a vast amount of airflow, just what you need to emit huge RTA clouds. This is also assisted by the Dead Rabbit 3 having room for two coils simultaneously, just what you need for massive outputs.

The Hellvape Dead Rabbit 3 RTA is a cloudy, clean masterclass. While certainly not for the casual vaper, those who desire to be fully invested in their vaping experience won’t be disappointed by its leak proof technology.

Internal honeycomb airflow for improved clouds

We’ve recently looked at a few Vaperz Cloud products, such as the Odin V2 Mod and the Empire Squonk Project. Those units showed us that Vaperz Cloud is focused on producing advanced vape gear for experienced users, and the Dreadnought V2 RDA is no exception.

First and foremost, the design aspect that elevates the Dreadnought V2 into its winning position is the optional coil compatibility. The Dreadnought V2 can, of course, fit both single or dual coil builds onto the deck. However, the deck can be removed entirely, making it easier to perform intricate coil work.

Once the deck is removed, however, the Dreadnought V2 RTA is capable of fitting mesh coils from the HorizonTech Falcon range. This simple but revolutionary design means that if you aren’t in the mood or capable of building a whole new coil, you can insert a pre-made one to use the Dreadnought V2 as a sub-ohm tank!

And while we would have preferred a top-based airflow, the unique honeycomb shape of the bottom airflow control ring allows you far more control over how much vapour it produces.

The Vaperz Cloud V2 RTA is the best RTA tank we’ve seen, allowing you to opt for total convenience while still providing one of the best coil-building areas available.

Pros

  • It can be used as an RTA or sub-ohm tank
  • Removable coil deck
  • Superb airflow settings

Cons

  • Bottom-based airflow
  • We would have loved a sliding top-fill

Easy Squeezy: Intended for use with a squonk mod
Succulent Sith: Reapply new e-liquid instantly for fresh flavour
Old School: Can also be used as a traditional RDA

If you’ve an eye for franchises, you may be unsurprised to learn that Vaperz Cloud released the Sith RSA in conjunction with the Empire Squonk Project Mod. Perhaps the less said, the better about those particular names for brand reasons!

The Sith RSA isn’t much to look at, with a reasonably austere design available in several single-colour variants. But once you look inside, you begin to see the beauty of this tasty rebuildable deck.

The Sith RSA has been built with squonks in mind, with a pre-installed BF pin. However, a regular pin is included if you’re currently squonkless or simply happy to do the frequent juice applications.

The semi-postless arrangement allows for a single coil build, with a hidden ultem cap going over the coil in order to better funnel your vapour up towards the drip tip. The airflow control ring is notably high, which serves the squonk use well as you can squeeze as hard as you like without worrying about leaks.

The ability to instantly coat your strips of cotton with a fresh dose of e-liquid from the squonk delivers a riotously rich flavour, making the Vaperz Cloud Sith RSA the best RDA for flavour in our eyes.

Pros

  • The most squonk-ready RDA
  • Rich squonk-squeezed flavour depths
  • Ultem elements used for temperature regulation

Cons

Postless Prince: A postless 25mm deck allows for delicate installations
Tasty Rabbit: Low-slotted airways promote vast, richly flavoured vapour levels
Clap Your Hands: Comes with pre-made Ni80 Clapton coils

The last rebuildable tank atomizer of this roundup comes from Hellvape, who has finally unveiled the long-awaited Dead Rabbit 3 RTA. We’ve put it through its paces and believe this tank is the best-tasting RTA currently available.

The ample – yet TPD-compliant – e-liquid storage segment provides the constantly refreshed flavour. While leaks can often be an issue with RTAs, the high placement of the airflow adjustment ring ensures that your juice has nowhere to escape from.

The airflow innovations don’t stop there, with inner domed honeycomb airflow pathways drawing your puff down through the tank’s base and into the 25mm postless coil deck. The even spacing of the internal air ports gathers up all the potential flavour. It gives each puff the most decadent taste possible from single and dual coil builds.

While we would have loved a sliding top-fill to accompany the RTAs e-liquid convenience, the lid removes with a simple quarter-turn and sits firmly in place when left alone. This makes the Dead Rabbit 3 rebuildable tank atomizer a rare instance of a great-tasting DIY coil deck you can slip into your pocket without fearing spillage.

Pros

  • Unique airway systems promote rich flavour levels
  • Postless deck provides the best workspace for coil work
  • Raised air-ports help eliminate leaks

Cons

  • Thick rubbers can make disassembly tricky

Push-It

Introduce easy push-to-fit installation

The Voopoo PnP Coil series broke a lot of conventions when it first debuted. Sub-ohm POD COILS? Push-to-fit!? Ceramic and mesh interiors?!

Yet each one of these aspects has gone on to receive widespread adoption by the vape industry at large, firmly securing Voopoo a place in the halls of vaping’s valkyries.

Some coils suit any vaping style with ohmages ranging from the ultra-ultra-low 0.15ohms (60-80W) to a moderate and MTL-specific 1.2ohms (10-15W). Chances are a PnP Pod owner will be more interested in big clouds, but it’s always great to have options.

And suppose you’ve ever wondered why you no longer have to screw in most coils. In that case, you can thank Voopoo for adopting push-to-fit as a standard method across all their PnP Pod offerings. In doing so, they made coil changes a much more streamlined affair for everyone.

The Voopoo PnP Coil series is MIST’s favourite coil range, and we’re confident that one puff is all it’ll take to bring you onside.

Wicked Wicks: Flax cotton coils used for improved taste
Weaveless: Non-woven wicks ensure greater flavour and vapour
Restrict: Designed for DTL, but 1.2ohm coils are suitable for RDL

While the majority of coils utilise a simple organic cotton as wicking material, the Vaporesso GTX40 GO Coils take things to a whole new level of flavour-carrying efficiency.

Compatible with several Vaporesso kits, such as the LUXE XR Pods and GTX GO 40 Pods, the coils achieve their uniquely flavoursome outputs with the help of the materials used to soak up your e-liquid.

Flax cotton is far more durable and long-lasting than traditional cotton, meaning your coils will last longer even at the high wattages you can achieve with 0.3ohm outputs.

Another benefit comes from the flax plant’s natural resistance to pests, meaning that no pesticides or other nasty chemicals are required for cultivation.

Finally, Vaporesso uses a non-woven production method that carries flavour far more efficiently, making the GTX40 GO Coils some of the tastiest and most durable around.

Pros

  • Top-quality wick materials used for improved flavour
  • Solid vapour production
  • Decent range of ohmages

The Classics: Long-beloved coil series
High Noohm: 1.8ohms, one of the highest resistances available
Old-School Screw: Very secure screw-in installation methods

The Aspire Nautilus Coil range is the oldest featured in this list, launched ten years ago.

Despite being a little longer in the tooth than others featured in this list, there’s an excellent reason Aspire tanks utilise these coils to this day.
The Nautilus Coils are some of the most reliable and satisfying MTL coils. While other manufacturers race towards the lowest ohmages possible, the Nautilus Coils offer resistances as high as 1.8ohms, a high-resistance coil perfect for tight mouth-to-lung draws.

There’s even a 0.4ohm coil for when you fancy giving the old sub-ohm plumes a try, making the Nautilus range remarkably versatile. However, it should be noted that it’s very much an MTL range with only one sub-ohm unit available.

It might bear old design hallmarks such as screw-in installation, but the Aspire Nautilus Coil range has more than earned its place in the halls of vaping legend.

FAQ

How Do I Choose a Vape Tank?

You shouldn’t rush choosing a new vape tank! Selecting the tank that’s right for what you need is crucial. Follow these steps, and you should have the perfect tank for your puff style.

1. If you are new to vaping, consider whether you want a cigarette-replacing MTL tank or a big cloud sub-ohm tank.
2. If you are already a vaper, consider what you liked or disliked about your previous tank when looking at new units.
3. With price, design and features in mind, pick a small selection of tanks with features, use functions and a coil range that sound ideal for your needs.
4. Read and watch vape reviews online to see which of your potential tank candidates have received the most significant acclaim.
5. Pick the tank that looks best to you, and you’ve witnessed good testimonies for, and be sure to stock up on coils!

How Long Should a Vape Tank Last?

A vape tank should last you for quite a long time, provided you look after it. The steel and glass materials of the tank like the adjustable airflow ring, airflow inlets, sliding top-fill cap and drip tip aren’t likely to degrade for years after purchase.
The tanks rubber rings within may begin to perish after a year or two, though many tanks come with replacements included. This all depends on careful use, of course; glass isn’t likely to survive many falls to the floor.

Can I Put Any Tank on My Vape?

You can put any tanks on your vape, provided your mod has a dedicated 510 thread. This is the case for 99% of vape mods, so you have many tank options to choose from!
It is, however, essential to note that MTL tanks run the risk of burnt coils from high-power mods. Simultaneously, sub-ohm tanks may be unable to draw the power they need for dense vapour from a low-power vape battery.
