Geekvape Wenax Q2 Review

Geekvape’s latest Wenax kit, the Q2, breaks the tradition of that vape kit range. The Wenax devices have always been simple and stripped-back MTL kits with solid flavour and approachability that even a total beginner won’t have a problem with.

The new Wenax Q2, however? Something of a different beast. This week, I’ve been getting to grips with the Wenax Q2 to see whether it’s a logical evolution for the range or whether Geekvape might have misfired somewhat on this Wenax outing.

Review Summary: Keen to stand out as the stylish and chic one, while still keeping things simple enough for an absolute beginner to have no trouble mastering quickly.

👍 Good Fit For You If:

  • You prioritize excellent, clear, and rich flavour, as the high-quality Q Cartridges are a major highlight.
  • You are a new or casual vaper looking for a simple, no-fuss, and safe-to-use device (thanks to Smart Mode and draw-only operation).
  • You appreciate a stylish and premium-feeling build with comfortable materials like pleather and the durability of an aluminum alloy construction.
  • You prefer a convenient and clean top-fill system (snap-off mouthpiece) over fiddly rubber hatches.
  • You need a solid, all-day battery (1250mAh) and value the convenience of fast charging.

❌ Look Elsewhere If:

  • You frequently vape outdoors in bright sunlight and would be frustrated by a dim screen that can be hard to see.
  • You are an advanced vaper who loves deep menus, multiple modes, and extensive settings customization.
  • You are a sub-ohm vaper who needs power significantly higher than 30W.
  • You must have a physical fire button and dislike draw-only devices.
  • You prefer an ultra-lightweight pod kit; this device has a noticeable heft due to its metal construction.

Review Disclosure: Geekvape has supplied me with the Wenax Q2 kit I’ve been using for this review. I’ve reviewed many Geekvape kits in the past, and they know well that my opinions and thoughts cannot be influenced by anything except my own experiences as a vaper of over 10 years.

Packaging and Labels

The Wenax Q2 arrives in an instead striking orange box with black accents and fonts. An image of the device is in the middle of the front of the packaging, with the Geekvape logo above and a TPD health warning at the base.

Notably, the back of the packaging features only the Geekvape logo. The contents and contact info usually kept there are instead on one side of the box, while the other side features an authenticity hologram.

Removing the sleeve from the box, we see a bright orange envelope containing the user manual, and beneath this, the kit itself is held in a firm plastic cutout. A pod is already inserted into the device with a sticker on the base to prevent electrical connection.

A spare pod and a box containing the USB-C charging cable are just to the right of the device.

Build Quality

Score: 4.7 out of 5

The Geekvape Wenax Q2 is quite a bit more stylish than other units in the range! An eye-catching and supremely comfortable pleather grip panel takes up most of the bottom half of the unit, with a steel and acrylic top half that has a dazzling holographic effect surrounding the display screen.

The screen itself is 0.85″ and full colour, though I have to admit that I’m a tad disappointed in the lack of brightness. The screen on my model has a darkened and unlit border that makes it unclear in certain lights.

To the left of the screen, you’ll find an ample airflow slider on one side, with the control button on the other side. Notably, this is *not* a firing button, but rather a button used to navigate the functions and power range of the device.

The charging USB-C port is on the base of the device, next to what I believe is an authenticity QR code.

Once again, the Wenax device utilises the excellent Q Cartridge range, which continues to deliver some of the clearest flavours in vaping. The pods are held in place with a sturdy magnetic connection, and it’s still as satisfying as ever to snap off the lid of a Q pod to refill it. It beats rubber hatches by a mile in terms of refill methods.

Finally, the device has a fairly heavy heft to it, due to the aluminium alloy used in its construction. The weight is worth the durability; however, while I wouldn’t recommend tossing this vape into a rock quarry, it can withstand a bit more punishment than some of the other, more plastic vape pens on the market today.

Ease of Use

Score: 4.8 out of 5

The Wenax Q2’s ease of use is thankfully very approachable! Being a draw-only device, you can’t accidentally burn the pod with an accidental button press. And the device uses a Smart function to prevent too high a power being selected. Right now, I’m using a 0.8-ohm Q Cartridge, and if I try to take the control over 18W, it just cycles back down to the start of the range.

Some may be annoyed by that kind of hand-holding, but a kit like this is clearly intended for a more casual vaper, or at least a vaper who has little to no interest in the technical aspects of their device. So, in this respect, it’s safe to say that it’s good for the Wenax Q2 to guide you away from burning your coils out too soon.

Outside of that, the device doesn’t offer extra modes or deep menus, so there’s no real risk of getting lost in the interface. Just keep the pod filled, replace the pods every 2-4 weeks, charge the kit when you can, and keep on vaping! It’s that simple.

Performance

Score: 4.4 out of 5

The Wenax Q2 puffs delightfully. And considering that it’s auto-draw only, that’s a good thing! There’s no detectable delay between when you begin to puff and the start of the atomisation process, something that other vapes have frustrated me with in the past. If you’re going to take the firing button away, you better darn well ensure the puff detector is sensitive. And, to Geekvape’s credit, this is very much the case with the Wenax Q2.

There’s a decent power range of 8 – 30W, and the Q pods give you opportunities to explore that full range of outputs. The airflow slider is a perfect, wide and ample with an understated low-profile slider stud. I was able to get some good lungfuls with it open, and enjoyed tight, concentrated flavours when it was mostly closed.

It would be remiss of me not to mention something I’m not particularly excited about, and in this instance, it’s sadly the display screen. Yes, it’s lovely to choose between screen themes, but not so much when you can barely see them.

I found the screen to be noticeably dark and unlit, particularly around the edges. Not a problem indoors or at night, but on a summer’s day, you may need to squint to make out the power readout.

However, that’s a minor complaint that doesn’t significantly impact the overall effectiveness of the kit, which is generally superb.

Battery Life

Score: 4.5 out of 5

Photo showing the Wenax Q2 being charged

The Wenax Q2’s battery is very decent at 1250mAh. And while they could have stretched it out to 1500mAh to match some competitors, the device’s battery is enough to adequately fuel 30W vaping for a solid day.

What’s more, 2A-rated charging ensures that the device will be back on its feet in no time once you do get the chance to plug it in.

Flavour Output

Score: 4.8 out of 5

As mentioned earlier in this review, the flavour output of the Wenax Q2 is delicious, thanks mainly to the “VPU” design ethos Geekvape uses for their Q Cartridge designs. The better quality wick material and coil structures serve to funnel rich vapour upwards towards your hungry lips.

While the kit itself doesn’t have any ‘modes’ that assist with flavour carrying, these modes are often confusing and misleading when they are featured in devices. Trust me; tighten up the airflow a little bit, and you’ll get plenty of robust flavour from whatever juice you have in the Q pods.

Summary

The Q2 is in a league of its own among the Wenax siblings. Keen to stand out as the stylish and chic one, while still keeping things simple enough for an absolute beginner to have no trouble mastering quickly. It’s not a device sub-ohmers will enjoy, and those who love to dig into menus and settings will find it a little closed off.

But those seeking a no-fuss, great-tasting vape pen with a solid battery? I’m certain you’ll be impressed with it.

The MIST Favourite Feature:

  • Q Cart Flavour: The Q Cartridges are still some of the tastiest on the vape scene, imparting no nasty flavours or impurities on your favourite vape juice. If a kit uses Q pods, it’s usually a winner for me!
