Best Vape Concentrate
Features We Love
Go Nuts
Delicious creamy, salty nut flavour
Verse Vape
Works well as part of a sweet, creamy, or savoury blend
Room To Spare
Only needs to be 5-7% of total juice, great mixability potential
Peanut butter is a truly standout flavour because of its wild versatility. I can enjoy peanut butter with jam in a sandwich, smeared onto pancakes, or even cooked with ginger, lemongrass and coconut for a delicious Thai curry.
As a result, the MIST Peanut Butter Concentrate is one of my instant go-to flavour bases that serve as a foundation for dozens of liquid mixes I’ve worked on. Want to add a creamy bite to a tobacco blend? Or how about a grounding element for a banana and vanilla ice cream mix? Peanut Butter, our top choice for our review of the best vape flavour concentrates in the UK, comes through with the winning flavour balance every time.
Pros
- Unique savoury flavour
- Works well with both tobacco and dessert blends
- Minimal sweetness for greater application
Cons
- Lack of sweetness a turn-off for some
- Peanut flavour will be noticeably present in all mixes
MIST Fizzy Cola
Best for: Beverage
Features We Love
Crack Open A Can: Sugary and almost candy-like classic cola flavour
Vapourstream: Ready for fruit and icy additions to recreate classic soda forms
Pick & Mix: Can be used standalone for the flavour of chewy cola bottle sweets
Cola vapes are some of my absolute favourites because everyone likes being able to enjoy a sugary soda without worrying about their teeth and weight. The Fizzy Cola E-Liquid Concentrate is a highly versatile flavour concentrate as there are endless beverage flavour combos to choose from.
I like to add a little ice to the blend for that ‘fresh from the fridge’ flavour, and then I’ll go with either a sour citrus note for that ‘lemon wedge’ element or just a big old blast of sour cherry flavouring to make my very own cherry cola e-liquid. The perfect base for any beverage blend.
Pros
- Rich and darkly sweet cola soda flavouring
- Works perfectly with ice and fruit additions
- Also excellent for fans of cola-bottle sweets
Cons
- You may prefer a lemonade flavouring for your beverage blend
- Strange when paired with pure menthol, better to use flavourless ice concentrates
Nasty Juice Aroma Silver Blend
Best for: Spices
Features We Love
Nice Spice: Luxurious vanilla enhances gentle tobacco flavour
Nice & Nasty: Characteristic Nasty Juice high sweetness levels
Standalone: Works perfectly as the sole flavouring of your DIY e-liquid
A touch of spice can bring an otherwise ordinary flavour like tobacco to life, and give you a whole new appreciation for your daily puff. Silver Blend – part of the Aroma range from Nasty Juice, one of the best vape concentrate brands around – does exactly this with a precise and perfect dose of fresh Madagascan vanilla.
Plucked from orchid flowers, vanilla provides a velvety and sweet addition to the grounded tobacco notes, elevating the profile significantly. I personally like to use Silver Blend on its own, but a little hint of cake or honey flavour can send the characteristic Nasty Juice e-liquid concentrates sweetness into overdrive, if that’s what you prefer!
Pros
- Smooth tobacco and vanilla pod blend
- Relaxing flavour combination
- Notable Nasty Juice flavour plateaus
Cons
- Nasty Juice flavour concentrates are too sweet for some
- Smokers may find this has more of a ‘creamy’ than ‘smoky’ profile
Just Juice Kiwi and Cranberry on Ice
Best for: Fruity
Features We Love
Fruit Refreshment: Zesty fruit blend with an icy component
Fanberry: Rare appearance of sweet, tart cranberry juice
Fruit Foundation: Perfect as the starting block of a complex fruit arrangement
There are so many fruit vape liquid concentrates that sometimes I find they’re a little alike when what I want is a unique blend to start off my vibrant and juicy e-liquid project. The Just Juice Kiwi and Cranberry on Ice flavouring is perfect for giving my homebrews a touch of tart taste that only fruits can achieve.
With the cranberries and kiwi fruits mixing into a gorgeously zesty and tangy juice blend, the ice comes through with a touch of refreshment to keep the sugary flavours from becoming cloying. So with this concentrate, you can create a fruit vape that’s delightfully sweet but never overwhelming, making for the perfect all-day puff.
Pros
- Sour kiwi and tart cranberry work well together
- Ice prevents the fruits from becoming overbearingly sweet
- Works well with other fruits as well as beverages and candy blends
Cons
- Sweet fruit fans may find tartness offputting
- Ice flavour concentrates not to everyone’s liking
Joe’s Juice Cookie Dough Salted Caramel
Best for: Pastry & Dessert
Features We Love
Indulgent Drip: Luscious combination of dessert flavour concentrates
Restrained: Salted flavour keeps the tastes from becoming overpowering
Baked Bae: Excellent foundation for creamy or even fruit additions
When I’m on the hunt for a dessert flavour base, I can be hard to please. I want a deliciously indulgent flavour that manages to incorporate a balancing component so that despite how luxurious the flavour may be, it’s still a vape I can session for the day.
Cookie Dough Salted Caramel Concentrate by Joe’s Juice provides me with exactly that. The sugary baked cookie and fiery sweet brown sugar sauce notes combine into a delectable dark sweetness, but the edge of salt grounds the flavour and stops it from running away with itself. I got great results from mixing it with the Nasty Juice Aroma Silver Blend mentioned above for a velvety vanilla addition to my pudding pod mix.
Pros
- Delicious baked dessert flavours
- Salted sweetness adds a tasty complexity
- Perfect base for cake, brownie and other pudding blends
Cons
- Use of salt offputting to fans of pure sugariness
- Can overwhelm other flavour concentrates
MIST Gold & Silver Tobacco
Best for: Tobacco
Features We Love
Take A Drag: Gentle smoky profile
Easy Additions: Remarkably versatile with cream and menthol flavours
Herbal Essence: Flavour taken from genuine toasted tobacco leaves
A good tobacco flavour concentrate should have a subtle smoky profile that doesn’t overwhelm the senses and one that you can craft brilliant blends with. Personally, the MIST Gold & Silver tobacco e-liquid essence is a must in your vape juice DIY brewing kit.
Its touch of silky vanilla will result in a classic cafe creme cigarillo flavour, whereas menthol additions will produce a perfect recreation of menthol cigarettes. Before you know it, the pub garden will be asking where you got that delicious-smelling cinnamon cookie tobacco vape liquid, and with a prideful smile, you can tell them it’s your own e-liquid.
Pros
- Subtle and pleasant smoky flavour
- Excellent base for menthol cigarette blend
- Uses actual tobacco leaf essence
Cons
- Heavy smokers may prefer a rougher flavour like Desert Ship
- Somewhat plain for those seeking inventive blends
Nasty Juice Ballin Bloody Berry
Best for: Citrus
Features We Love
Citrus Bliss: Tart and tasty sour fruit flavour base
Lemon Aid: Raspberry and lemon pair well with ice to make a lemonade vape
Multidirectional: Perfect base for candy, beverage, pudding and fruit vapes
Citrus is a key player in some of my favourite DIY e-liquids, combining two things I love – sweet and sour. Ballin’ Bloody Berry from Nasty Juice Aroma delivers tart fruit flavours on two fronts.
You get an immediate blast of tangy raspberries, which is followed up by an enveloping sweet lemon tartness. It’s a delicious mix that I’m surprised hasn’t appeared on my radar before, and I found worked really well with the Vampire Vape Ice Menthol Concentrate to give my tank a frosty fruit fusion of sweet flavours.
Note that being by Nasty Juice, it’s extremely sweet, but if you’re into brewing citrus vape juices you’re likely to enjoy that!
Pros
- Tart citrus flavour combination
- Lemon not too sour and works well with tangy raspberry
- Quite reminiscent of a lemonade flavour, perfect with ice
Cons
- Pure citrus vape fans may find it not quite sour enough
- Being a Nasty Juice flavouring, it may overwhelm other additions
Just Juice Ice Wild Berries & Aniseed
Best for: Botanical
Features We Love
Complex Puff: Rich botanical additions with a liquorice-like taste
Forest Fruits: Mixed berries work well with aniseed and don’t over-sugar the blend
Botanicool: Ice elevates the complex botanical flavourings
Botanicals can add a level of sophistication to vape liquid that cigarettes just can’t compete with. It goes beyond just ‘sweet’ or ‘sour’ and can introduce a degree of complexity and mature flavour to your own vape juice.
Wild Berries & Aniseed Concentrate, part of the Just Juice Ice line, has helped me brew up several unique tasting fruit vapes with a very noticeable hint of liquorice, adding a note of flavour that is adult and playful in equal measure. The tartness of the berries never outshines the botanical extract flavour, making it more akin to the taste of a fancy cocktail than a simple fruit or candy blend.
Pros
- Rich and complex aniseed flavour
- Berries not so sweet as to overpower liquorice flavour
- Ice, berries and aniseed very similar to classic Heisenberg flavour
Cons
- Tricky to mix with other flavours
- Sweet fruits and ice vape fans may find aniseed taste too strong
Dinner Lady Moments Peach Bubble
Best for: Sweets & Candy
Features We Love
Bubblicious: Fruit bubblegum flavour base
Precious Peach: Delicate peach juice flavour enhances sweet profile
Penny Sweets: Works well with other fruits as well as menthol and ice concentrates
Candy vape flavour concentrates allow you to take a trip down the old pick & mix sweet aisle, filling up a cup – or, in this case, bottle – with a tangy, chewy and moreish selection of candy flavours.
I personally feel that peach’s uniquely ‘rounded’ flavour lends itself really well to candy flavours, and so the Peach Bubble concentrate from the Dinner Lady Moments line is the perfect candy base for my mix projects. The combination of fruit juice and chewy candy is an excellent starting block for other fruity additions, or if you’re feeling bold, go with a creamy vanilla note for a tasty summer ice-lolly flavour, a delicious sweet treat from Dinner Lady!
Pros
- Perfect chewy bubblegum flavour
- Fruity peach juice adds zesty sweetness
- Excellent fruit and candy base flavour concentrate
Cons
- Bubblegum flavour prevents use with beverage concentrates
- 20-25% mix recommendation doesn’t leave much room for additional flavours
Vampire Vape Ice Menthol
Best for: Menthol
Features We Love
Icy Addition: The perfect concentrate for a frosty edge
Nice & Neutral: Imparts no flavour onto your blend besides iciness
Veteran Vamp: Vampire Vape known for their icy flavour concentrates
Menthol flavour concentrates need, beyond all else, to work well with other flavours. While you may be one of those menthol devotees who likes a pure arctic freeze on the inhale, many appreciate menthol for its versatility and the ability to add a refreshing note to any other flavour blend.
Ice Menthol Concentrate by Vampire Vape is cool and mostly flavourless, working excellently to frost out fruit or beverage blends but also providing an essential cool kick to anyone working with tobacco essences with menthol cigarette nostalgia. Let Vampire Vape help you get around those pesky TPD flavour restrictions and blend yourself a hand-rolled cool cig, now in the form of harmless vapour!
Pros
- Adds a cold note to any e-liquid blend
- Light Vampire Vape menthol flavour
- Perfect for fruit, beverage and candy blends
Cons
- Vampire Vape menthol is slightly too cold for some vapers
- Won’t work well with most dessert and cream flavours
FAQ
How Do You Use Flavor Concentrates?
Whereas previously making your own e-liquid was a tricky affair that involved experimenting with food flavourings, flavour concentrates make the process far simpler by providing you with proven flavour mixes and pairings.
Those new to DIY vape juice production would do well to check out our detailed guide on how to make your own vape juice.
How Much Flavour Concentrate to Add to E-Liquid?
The amount of e-liquid flavour concentrate you need to use will often depend on just how intense a flavour you’re seeking to create, however, there are some general rules to follow.
Vape flavour concentrates will usually inform you as to the recommended percentage of your e-liquid that the concentrate should make up. Usually, it’s recommended to make the concentrate around 15 – 20% of your overall e-liquid total, though this is not a hard rule.
Keep in mind as well that e-liquid flavour concentrates are usually kept in a PG suspension, so ensure that your concentrate is primarily PG when doing the maths on your e-liquid’s overall VG/PG ratio, as not using the right amount may affect your project’s vapour production.
10ml e-liquid total | 1.5mls – 2mls of flavour concentrate |
60ml e-liquid total | 9mls – 12mls of flavour concentrate |
100ml e-liquid total | 15mls – 20mls of flavour concentrate |
200ml e-liquid total | 30mls – 40mls of flavour concentrate |
500ml e-liquid total | 75mls – 100mls of flavour concentrate |
Concentrate needed for total e-liquid measurements (15 – 20% concentrate ratio)
Can You Add Concentrate to Vape Juice?
You can, in fact, add a few drops of flavour concentrate to a pre-mixed e-liquid in order to increase the present flavour or add a touch of something like menthol or fruit to an otherwise muted flavour.
Be sparing with how much concentrate you add, as the e-liquid will already contain flavour concentrates, and going past the right amount will result in an oppressively sugary experience.
Keep in mind as well that most flavour concentrates are held in a propylene glycol suspension, so adding too much may impact the careful VG/PG balance of the e-liquid.
