Shortfill Nic Shot Calculator: Easily Add the Right Nicotine

Getting the nicotine strength right in a shortfill is one of the trickiest parts of DIY vaping, which is exactly why our shortfill nic shot calculator exists. Instead of manually working out ratios and risking a batch that’s too weak or overpoweringly strong, this tool does the maths for you in seconds. Just plug in your numbers and mix with confidence.

How to Use Our Shortfill Nic Shot Calculator?

Simply enter:

1. The amount of 0mg e-liquid in your shortfill bottle (in ml).
2. Your desired final nicotine strength (in mg).
3. The strength of your nicotine shot (usually 18mg or 20mg).

Hit “CALCULATE”, and we’ll instantly tell you:

• Exactly how many millilitres (ml) of nicotine shot you need to add.
• How many standard 10ml nic shots this equates to (rounded up, so you know how many to buy!).
• The total volume of your final e-liquid mix.

No more guesswork, no more wasted juice. Get accurate results every time!

Important: UK Vaping Products Duty and Your Shortfills

Before you start mixing, UK vapers need to be aware of a change that directly affects shortfills and nic shots alike. Since 1 October, HMRC’s new Vaping Products Duty (VPD) introduces a flat £2.20 tax per 10ml on all vaping liquid, whether it contains nicotine or not, meaning both your shortfill bottle and your nic shot will each carry this charge separately once purchased.

NOTE: Mixing untaxed shortfills and nic shots at home is illegal under VPD, even if you’re doing it for your own use. But that doesn’t mean home mixing is banned altogether. You can still mix products that have already had the duty paid.

For the full details on what counts as a taxable product, how retailers are expected to apply the duty, and what it could mean for anyone shortfilling at home, our guide on the UK Vape Tax 2026 (VPD) is worth reading in full.
