Vaporesso XROS Pro 2 Review

Cross. I’m calling it “cross.” I’m tired of the debate, and “Ex-ross” is too clunky. So that’s settled. Well, I’ve been a big fan of the XROS (“cross”) devices released thus far, and based on how quickly they fly off shelves, I’m not the only one. So, when Vaporesso launched the XROS Pro 2, I was genuinely curious —is it a needless update or an improvement? Well, folks, I can confidently say that it is the latter.

Review Summary: The Vaporesso XROS Pro 2 Kit is a notable update that, in my opinion, surpasses the previous XROS Pro.

👍 Good Fit For You If:

  • You prioritize massive, multi-day battery life (2000mAh) in a slim and portable pod system.
  • You want an extremely lightweight (65g) and comfortable device that doesn’t compromise on a premium feel.
  • You enjoy rich, smooth flavour and excellent coil longevity, thanks to the new COREX 3.0 pods.
  • You like having deep but optional customization, such as precise half-watt power control and a detailed puff tracker, without it being mandatory for daily use.
  • You prefer a highly responsive draw-activated experience but still want the option to enable button firing.
  • You appreciate a high-quality, vibrant screen for clear information and menu navigation.

❌ Look Elsewhere If:

  • You are a brand-new vaper who could be confused by menus and would prefer a device with absolutely zero settings or screens.
  • You are a high-power DTL vaper who needs a device with a maximum output significantly higher than 30W.
  • You prefer a heavier, more substantial-feeling device and find ultra-lightweight kits less appealing.
  • You want a device where all functions are immediately obvious, without needing to learn a few button-tap combinations to access the deeper menus.

Packaging and Inclusions

Photo showing the packaging of the Vaporesso XROS Pro 2

The Vaporesso XROS Pro 2 arrives in a cardboard box covered in a sleeve that has the same green/black colour scheme as other recent Vaporesso kits. The Vaporesso logo stands proud at the top of the sleeve face, with a picture of the device in the middle. To the right of the picture, gold emblems announcing the 2000mAh battery and COREX 3.0 pods within. The base of the sleeve’s face is a standard TPD health warning.

The left and right sides of the sleeve show features of the kit and authenticity graphics respectively.

The back of the sleeve lists specs, contents, and contact info for Vaporesso, along with another TPD health warning.

Removing the sleeve, we find the sleeve containing the manual, and under we see the XROS Pro 2 nestled in a foam cutout with a pod already inserted. To the right, partitions containing the charging cable and the spare pod in a blister pack.

The inserted pod has a sticker on the base to prevent electrical connection. The front of the device has a long sticker to protect the TFT screen from scuffs. The sticker also has helpful button-combo info printed on it.

Build Quality

Score: 4.8 out of 5

The kit is remarkably light! That’s one of the first things I noticed about it. The XROS Pro 2 has a very similar shape to the original XROS Pro, with a slightly bulky ‘stomach’ on the pen and a fairly long shape, though the 2 is slightly longer than the two. But switching from zinc alloy to magnesium alloy results in a carry weight of only 65g, which is pretty nuts.

It’s also noticeably comfortable to grip. The two sides of the kit have slight grooves or trenches in them that your fingertips and thumb fall into very gracefully, while the airflow slider is situated in the middle of the device’s back. Most of the time you’ll find that slider on the side of a kit but I quite like the back placement, it’s soothing to move my thumb over.

The kit has a single button on the front above the screen, which initially is only used for menu navigation but can also be activated as a firing button. However, for pocket-safety it’s switched off by default when you first use the device.

The screen itself is gorgeous, a TFT display of far greater quality than the OLED screen from the original XROS Pro kit.

Finally, the pods are certainly worth mentioning. While visually identical to older XROS pods, the new ones utilise Vaporesso’s new COREX 3.0 atomiser design, which drastically improves flavour, airflow smoothness, and coil longevity.

Performance

Score: 4.5 out of 5

Aiden from MIST vaping the XROS Pro 2 for a review.

The XROS Pro 2’s performance is a blend of simple satisfaction and intuitive light customisation options. The use-function of the kit hasn’t changed since the past kit; it’s still a primarily MTL pod kit with a maximum output of 30W. However, one nice change is that, unlike the original, which allowed power setting by single watts, the Pro 2 allows you to navigate power by half-watt, giving you way more power nuance.

The draw activation is very responsive and comfortable, to the extent that I’ve mostly left the firing button feature turned off. Tapping the button twice allows you to choose background themes and animations.

Three taps take you to power settings, while four taps take you to a larger menu that allows for device customisations such as button firing, lock mechanisms, whether power-draining animations should play, etc.

This menu also features a remarkably detailed puff tracker which displays your intake levels on a day, week and monthly basis. While puff tracking isn’t for everyone, this is a great version of the feature that’ll really help you if you’re trying to keep track of your vaping habits.

To sum up the device’s performance, it offers some fairly in-depth but ENTIRELY OPTIONAL customisation options, whereas the actual vaping action of the kit is highly streamlined and intuitive.

Ease of Use

Score: 4.4 out of 5

This intuitive and streamlined use function makes the XROS Pro 2 a great choice for new vapers. It’s generally quite simple to use, the flavour’s great, and it’s immediately nicer than smoking. The comfortable carry weight also makes it a pleasant surprise to first-time vapers holding it for the first time, who perhaps anticipated a vape kit to be a leaden hunk of cold metal.

If I have any hesitation about calling this a true starter kit, it’s that the customization menus—while enjoyable—might be something a brand-new vaper could stumble into and not immediately know how to navigate. For that reason, I won’t fully label it a starter kit, but it comes pretty close!

Battery Life

Score: 4.8 out of 5

The battery capacity in the Pro 2 is wonderful, having been increased from 1200mAh to 2000mAh. This is a very noticeable difference that will provide at least an extra entire day of vaping, in my opinion. It also helps that you can choose to deactivate power-draining features such as screen themes and animations. The charge speed is also excellent.

Once again, I have to circle back to the build quality, but it’s amazing how they almost doubled the charge capacity while knocking around a quarter of the weight from the kit!

Flavour Output

Score: 4.7 out of 5

The XROS pods have also seen a very welcome upgrade, now boasting COREX 3.0 design concepts in the atomiser build. The improved coil and wick designs result in a far smoother airflow, as well as a richer flavour that carries even less wick impurities than before.

And longevity is nothing to sneeze at! I’ve been using one pod solidly for a week straight and I’ve not detected the slightest dip in flavour intensity.

Summary

The Vaporesso XROS Pro 2 Kit is a notable update that, in my opinion, surpasses the previous XROS Pro. Whereas sometimes an older unit retains features you miss in the future, the XROS Pro 2 upgrades everything that matters from it’s forebearer, providing you with a lightweight, long-lasting, easy to use vape kit with incredible flavour!

The MIST Favourite Feature:

  • Battery Increase: It’s honestly amazing they fit a 2000mAh battery into a kit this small and lightweight! It wasn’t long ago that something like this could manage 800mAh maximum, so Vaporesso have clearly come a long way in battery design!
