FreeMax Rexa Lite Review

While FreeMax’s Rexa Pro and Rexa Smart raised the bar with their advanced, customisable features, the Rexa Lite takes a very different approach. Stripped of the smart tech and precision controls, the Lite model offers a more straightforward, no-frills experience aimed at simplicity over sophistication. But does this simple slab of puffable podage still deliver where it counts?

MIST's overall score for the FreeMax Rexa Lite

MIST’s Verdict

Review Summary: I tested this kit AFTER using its high-tech brothers. I initially felt that it may have been a mistake as it would exacerbate any frustrations I experienced. But, surprisingly, the Rexa Lite taught me about what mattered to me.

Review Disclosure: The Rexa Lite device I’ve used for this review was sent to me by Freemax directly. With this in mind, I’d like to reiterate that all views and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own and are impartial from outside influence.

Build Quality

Score: 4 out of 5

The Rexa Lite arrives as a featureless pen-style slab of lightweight steel. The device is very plain, featuring a simple ‘X’ logo near the base, a power-indication LED on the front, a USB-C port on one side, and an airflow slider on the other.

The device has a brushed steel surface, which is pleasant to hold and suitable for gripping. If you’re someone who cares about the face of the vape’s ‘facing out’, a quick, sightless finger brush against the vape will tell you which way the LED is facing. These things matter to some people!

The pods used by the Lite are the same as in the other Rexa kits, and just as satisfying. In many ways, the Duomax pods, with their delicate dual-core structures, are the best aspect of the Rexa range launch.

I almost wish I could go into more detail here, but the simple truth of the matter is that the Rexa Lite is plain and simple, and that’s a feature, not a bug. But why? Well…

Performance

Score: 4.5 out of 5

Did you like the way I segued into this section from the previous one? This is serious review time, youngun. Saddle up if you’re unsettled. Anyway…

The Rexa Lite is an interesting kit because to encounter it AFTER the Rexa Pro and Rexa Smart kits make it look hilariously unfinished. However, as a tier-one reviewer, I must remove myself from recent experience, and upon doing so, I’m suddenly taken aback not just by the Lite’s build, but by its boldness.

Aiden testing the FreeMax Rexa Lite

See, the Rexa Lite still does a brilliant job. It’s slightly less powerful than the Rexa Smart, Pro, S, and SQ kits, as it features a 1000mAh battery and a maximum wattage output of 28W, as opposed to the 30W maximum offered by the other kits.

Yet in spite of these whittlings, and despite the lack of a screen, buttons, or any secondary function to speak of, the Rexa Lite is still brilliant to use.

This is why I called it bold. Because Freemax, having created two of the most advanced vapes ever in the form of the Pro and Smart models, are so confident in the *fundamental use value* of their kit that they’ll release a no-extras version alongside the other ceiling-smashing units in the Rexa range.

So, does the Rexa Lite have power adjustment? No, it does not. Does it have customisable screen themes and animations? No, it does not. How about the ability to stream music through a Bluetooth connection? No, are you joking? Of course it doesn’t.

What does it do? It responds with incredible delicacy to draw activation, featuring smart functionality to preserve your coils, and delivers immensely flavorful draws.

The last question about functionality is: do you need any more than that? It’s fine to say yes! But it’s equally acceptable to say, “Actually, no, that sounds perfect for me!” and know you aren’t going to be missing out on any flavour or satisfaction.

Ease of Use

Score: 5 out of 5

Out of all the Rexa kits I’ve seen so far, the Rexa Lite is the simplest to use by far. There are no buttons! There are no features! There’s nothing to do except charge it, fill it, change the pods every few weeks and puff away!

Does that sound dull to you? Well, lucky you that Freemax released FOUR other Rexa kits with more functions than the Lite! However, those who want the least hassle imaginable will find the Rexa Lite very comfortable to use.

Battery Life

Score: 4.4 out of 5

The Rexa Lite has a slightly smaller battery than most of the other Rexa Kits. Whereas the Smart clocks in at an impressive 1600mAh, and the SQ manages 1300mAh, the Rexa Lite has a more modest 1000mAh battery.

While a smaller battery is always a bit disappointing, the truth is that the capacity shrinkage is proportional to the features the Lite won’t be using power on. Whereas the Smart needs a big charge for wattage exploration and screen power, the Lite only needs enough charge to fire at the appropriate wattage for your chosen pod.

As a result, you may find the Lite lasting LONGER than the Smart or the Pro, particularly if you’re used to using the sound effects and screen animations of those devices.

Flavour Output

Score: 4.7 out of 5

As has been the case in all my Rexa reviews, I have nothing negative to say about the device’s flavour production abilities. The Duomax pods are exceptional, with dual-coil arrangements that generate the maximum flavour possible. While they aren’t quite as cloudy as some lower resistance cores, the Duomax pod coils do a magnificent job of delivering unadulterated flavour in MTL and RDL formats.

Summary

I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed the Rexa Lite. I approached this kit AFTER using the more high-tech ones and initially felt that it may have been a mistake as it would exacerbate any frustrations I experienced.

But surprisingly, the Lite taught me about what mattered to me. Are touchscreens fun? Sure. Is it fun to play MP3s through your vape kit? Absolutely. Do you need any of that stuff to get on with reliable, flavoursome and brilliantly satisfying vaping? It turns out, not at all!

The MIST Favourite Feature:

  • Auto-Draw: The buttonless design works perfectly thanks to its highly sensitive draw response. The moment you begin taking in air, the kit fires up and takes you to flavour land.
