An electronic cigarette is an alternative to smoked tobacco products like regular cigarettes, cigars and pipes. It is a battery powered device, which allows nicotine to be inhaled by the user in a vapourised solution rather than a burnt one.
The vapour also provides a flavour which can simulate a tobacco taste or an alternative flavour such as fruits and delicacies. Not only is a flavour produced, but also a vapour is exhaled which looks similar to the smoke produced from an ordinary tobacco cigarette. When the vapour hits the back of your throat, you still get that satisfying hit! This makes it an almost identical experience to smoking an ordinary cigarette. There is no fire involved when using an electronic cigarette, which means it bypasses the laws surrounding smoking indoors. This has however, become a controversial area, with many different rules being set in individual places. So please take note of the rules of using ecigarettes in public places.
Electronic cigarettes are a new way for those who smoke tobacco products to regulate their intake of nicotine by choosing an e liquid with a nicotine strength suitable for them (none, low, medium, high), as well as avoiding the consumption of almost 100% of the harmful materials found in smoked tobacco products such as carbon monoxide, arsenic and acetone. An electronic cigarette is the best tobacco alternative on the market today.
On this page, you will see answers to some of the most frequently asked questions which we have put together about our mistEliquid and vaping. If you have a question that is not answered on this page please feel free to e-mail it to email@example.com and we will do our best to answer it.
There is no need to buy spare tanks. However, after a week of vaping your chosen flavour, you might decide (I often do) that it's time for a change. But what’s the best way of changing your E liquid over? Here’s our guide for changing flavours:
Clearomizers/tanks have replaceable coils. Instead of replacing your clearomizer every time they get old or start tasting burnt you can simply replace the coil. We recommend disposing of it and getting a fresh one after around 6 refills. Really, if you notice the vapour has subsided a lot, or you notice a burnt taste in your mouth (meaning the heating coil has burned out) it's time for a change.
PG (propylene glycol) and VG (vegetable glycerin) are 2 of the ingredients in eliquid as well as water, nicotine and flavourings. The main differences on how it affects your vaping are:
PG - less vapour, more throat hit, thinner vapour (easily absorbed by wicks).
VG - more vapour, less throat hit, smoother, thicker liquid, naturally sweeter (which can mean less flavour).
Less PG may also be more preferable for people who have a Propylene Glycol intolerance.
Here is a rough idea of how the different ratios of PG and VG may affect your vape:
Some people are sensitive to PG, meaning that they suffer from upper respiratory tract irritation and/or excessive drying-out. Most will experience reducing symptoms if they persist with vaping, as they become tolerant to it. For others, the symptoms may persist, and there could be a benefit in changing to a heavier VG liquid.
You may have been made aware in the recent media of e-cigarettes causing fires. Let us reassure you that fires caused by electronic cigarettes are very rare. They are easily preventable by taking the necessary precautions when using them, and especially while charging them. E-cigarette batteries are much like any other batteries you use in day to day life so the same rules and common sense applies.
LITHIUM BATTERY SAFETY
Lithium batteries can provide extremely high currents and can discharge very rapidly when short-circuited. Although this is useful in applications where high currents are required, a too-rapid discharge of a lithium battery can result in overheating of the battery, rupture, and even explosion.
We strongly recommend purchasing a Nitecore smart charger for recharging AW IMR batteries - it's also suitable for Li-ion, Ni-MH and Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries.
An electronic cigarette is a device that imitates an ordinary analogue cigarette by providing the user with nicotine through inhaling it. One main difference is that there is no combustion of tobacco products which means that by law, electronic cigarettes can be used in public places as it is not producing smoke. However, many individual places are choosing to ban the use of ecigarettes indoors so please be aware of the rules where you are.
An electronic cigarette works by the user inhaling on the electronic cigarette which causes the atomiser to turn on and heat the e liquid. The atomiser heats the e liquid into a vapour so that the user can inhale it. When exhaled, a glycol based vapour is released to resemble the smoke from an analogue cigarette.
All our electronic cigarettes require a liquid solution to be used. This solution is known as "E-liquid". Mist E-liquid only uses Top-graded ingredients. Our liquid contains 98% pure nicotine, French flavouring and American Propylene Glycol. We only use natural ingredients, so the product bears the tasting sensation of cigarette smoking without the harmful elements in regular cigarettes. All of our products have passed ISO9001 and GMP International Quality Assurance and have received SGS, TUV, CE, ROHS certificates. Our E liquid is made up of: Propylene Glycol 80%, Vegetable Glycerin 20%, Nicotine, Water and Food flavourings.
Propylene Glycol is the main ingredient in the e liquid. Food and Drug Administrations have recognised it as being generally safe for inhalation. It is used in many other products including: moisturisers, medicines, cosmetics and as a food additive to keep the product moist. It is also what creates the mist in theatrical fog machines.
This is where E Cigarettes get a little more technical. Fiddling with the Ohms and voltages allows you to find your vaping "sweet spot."
Generally, the lower the resistance/ohms, the more smoke/hit/vapour you will get. However, lower resistance will drain your battery faster, and will also shorten the life of your atomizer.
Low resistance atomizers are anywhere between 1.5-1.8ohms and should only be used on batteries with 3.7volts or less.
Standard resistance atomizers are anywhere between 1.9-2.2ohms and work great with regular batteries, providing a stable vape. They can also be used with variable voltage but make sure not to crank the volts up too high!
High Resistance atomizers are anywhere between 2.3omhs+ and should only be used with variable voltage devices to get the most out of them.
Fixed Voltage Devices: These include our eGo batteries, Kanger batteries, but they are essentially any battery that you cannot change the voltage on. These batteries are usually regulated at 3.2 volts.
Variable Voltage Devices: These are usually referred too as "spinner" or "twist" batteries and they allow you to change your voltage anywhere between 3.2-4.8 volts.
Our advice is to get the lowest ohm rating that won’t result in too many dry hits. This will give you the best vapor production and usually the best flavor.

Although the electronic cigarette is a relatively new device which has not gone through large amounts of clinical trials to prove that there is no long term effects caused by an electronic cigarette or e liquid on the user, the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recognised propylene glycol to be “generally safe”. To add, propylene glycol has no evidence that it is a carcinogen (cancer causing). None of the ingredients in e liquid have been found to be carcinogenic, unlike regular cigarettes. The lab studies that have been conducted smoking an electronic cigarette is probably 100-1000x safer than smoking tobacco - their health effects are similar to drinking a cup of coffee.
Choosing the right nicotine level is an essential part of vaping. The strength of the e liquid determines how strong what we call the "throat hit." Too high and you will be getting too big of a kick, too low and the vape won't be satisfying enough to quell the cravings.
E Liquid is measured in mg/ml, so in an 12mg bottle of E Liquid, there is 12mg of nicotine per ml of fluid.
Low 6mg: We recommend this strength to casual or social smokers. If you smoke around 5 cigarettes per day, this strength is suitable for you. Throat hit will be minimal.
Medium 12mg: We usually recommend this strength as a base for people starting out on e cigarettes. If you smoke around 10 cigarettes per day, this strength is suitable for you. Throat hit will be noticeable.
High 18mg: If you smoke a pack a day, we recommend going with this strength. We recommend keeping a lower strength on hand if you like to puff your e-cigarette all day (like me) to avoid over doing it. Throat hit will be strong.
Please note, this is only a guide based on our personal experiences.
Watts it all about?!
VV / VW: Variable Voltage and Variable Wattage e-cigarettes
(aka APV’s - Advanced Personal Vaporisers)
You may have already heard of variable voltage e-cigs, or be using one already, but variable wattage is the latest trend in vaping world, giving another manually adjustable aspect to enhance your vaping experience. We want to get to grips with variable voltage and variable wattage below.
A useful comparison would be comparing the two to cars:
Variable voltage is like a manual car. You need to check the resistance and apply the optimum voltage your coil can handle - if you are a tinkerer you may prefer being in control this way.
For example, if you have a 1.8 ohm coil, you can set the voltage to anywhere between 3.0 to 3.7 volts. If you have a 2.4 ohm coil, you can set the voltage to between 4.0 to 4.5 volts. Adjusting the voltage up or down will maximize the flavour intensity, throat hit and vapour production of your device.
Variable wattage is like an automatic car. It adjusts the voltage for you depending on the given circumstances - the ‘set and forget’ method.
VW determines the amount of heat being produced by the atomizer. Once your preferred power output/wattage is set, the microprocessor will automatically detect the ohms of your coil and automatically adjust the voltage to suit this.
Variable voltage AND variable wattage devices mean you can opt for which mode you run in. If you have a VV/VW device in VV mode and fire at 4.0 volts, you are going to get a different wattage, flavour and amount of vapour depending on the resistance of the attached device. In VW mode at say, 8.0 watts, the device will adjust the voltage to the resistance of the attached tank to give a consistent wattage, flavour and amount of vapour - this is assuming the same e-liquid is used.
Most VW units are also VV. With these you do NOT set the wattage first and voltage second, or vice versa. You either decide to use variable voltage or variable wattage for your current vaping, not both.
Are they for you?
If you like to use a variety of different resistance, being able to vary the power and heat may be for you. Also if you like to chop and change your flavours, you may have noticed that different types require different heats. For example, tobacco, coffee and chocolate flavours tend to taste better when exposed to more heat, while fruit e-liquids often taste best with less heat. VV, VW or both can help you get the optimum flavour intensity you desire.
We wouldn’t recommend them for new vapers - stick to the less complex starter kits to see if you actually enjoy vaping before investing. Also if you aren’t a heavy smoker, you may find the vapour production and throat hit too intense. If you find yourself turning your VV/VW e-cig down to 3.7 volts or lower to get your ideal vape, you may be better off buying a standard 3.7 volt battery.
You are generally allowed to use an electronic cigarette anywhere outside, however many places have introduced their own rules surrounding the use of e-cigarettes in public places. This includes trains and train platforms, some pubs and restaurants and so on. It really is up to the company or business to decide their own policies. It’s worth checking, out of politeness, before you start to vape.
Globally the regulations are constantly changing, there is no worldwide ruling on how an e-cigarette is regulated. So always check up on the local laws before travelling anywhere abroad! And don’t forget to check with individual airlines what is and isn’t allowed on-board their plane!

How you store your E liquid can affect the way that it tastes. Just like packaged food, E liquid is prone to get damaged by both light and heat. Therefore it is essential to store your liquid in a cool dark place. We recommend you keep it hidden and locked away from children in your kitchen cupboard or larder. Here are a few recommendations for how to get the best out of your juice:
Steeping essentially, is a process used to blend, age and mature an e-liquid to the point until you're getting the best flavour possible whilst vaping. As an E Liquid steeps it will normally darken, this can be an indication to when your liquid has matured (molecular interaction with nicotine causes this - the higher nicotine content, the quicker a juice will mature and darker the liquid will become). Here are our tips for getting the best out of your Mist E Liquid:
If you've been unlucky enough to get E Liquid in your mouth then you're doing something wrong. Here's how to stop it happening again!
For all of our eGo style batteries and the Vision Spinner 2, ensure you are using a charger bought directly from us at Mist as these provide the correct 4.2mAh output required to charge your battery. If you've charged your battery and it still doesn't work, try clicking the battery's button 5 times. If you charged it and the light doesn't flash then you have a faulty battery that needs to be returned to us - see our returns policy.
For Lithium AW batteries, we recommend purchasing the Nitecore charger to ensure safe charging.
