An electronic cigarette is an alternative to smoked tobacco products like regular cigarettes, cigars and pipes. It is a battery powered device, which allows nicotine to be inhaled by the user in a vapourised solution rather than a burnt one.

The vapour also provides a flavour which can simulate a tobacco taste or an alternative flavour such as fruits and delicacies. Not only is a flavour produced, but also a vapour is exhaled which looks similar to the smoke produced from an ordinary tobacco cigarette. When the vapour hits the back of your throat, you still get that satisfying hit! This makes it an almost identical experience to smoking an ordinary cigarette. There is no fire involved when using an electronic cigarette, legally allowing them to be used anywhere you want!

What is an electronic cigarette?

An electronic cigarette is a device that imitates an ordinary analogue cigarette by providing the user with nicotine through inhaling it. One main difference is that there is no combustion of tobacco products which means that by law, electronic cigarettes can be used in public places, which include restaurants and cinemas.

How does it work?

An electronic cigarette works by the user inhaling on the electronic cigarette which causes the atomiser to turn on and heat the e liquid. The atomiser heats the e liquid into a vapour so that the user can inhale it. When exhaled, a glycol based vapour is released to resemble the smoke from an analogue cigarette.

What is in the e-liquid?

The foundations of the e liquid are: liquid-nicotine, flavourings and propylene glycol. Propylene glycol is the main ingredient and is also what  provides you with the vapour that is exhaled like smoke from an ordinary cigarette. What is Propylene glycol?

Propylene Glycol is the main ingredient in the e liquid. Food and Drug Administrations have recognised it as being generally safe for inhalation. It is used in many other products including:  moisturisers,  medicines, cosmetics and as a food additive to keep the product moist. It is also what creates the mist in theatricle fog machines.

Is it safe to use an electronic cigarette?

Although the electronic cigarette is a relatively new device which has not gone through large amounts of clinical trials to prove that there is no long term effects caused by an electronic cigarette or e liquid on the user, the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recognised propylene glycol to be “generally safe”. To add, propylene glycol has no evidence that it is a carcinogen (cancer causing). None of the ingredients in e liquid have been found to be carcinogenic, unlike regular cigarettes. The lab studies that have been conducted smoking an electronic cigarette is probably 100-1000x safer than smoking tobacco - their health effects are similar to drinking a cup of coffee. 

What are the health risks of spilling nicotine e liquid on your skin?

Nicotine is a poison in its raw form and it is important to take care in handling your e liquid resbonsibly. If you do get e-liquid on your skin, wash the area of skin thoroughly straight away. If a large amount of e-liquid spills on your skin, wash straight away and consult your doctor. You should not get any adverse effects by spilling small amounts of e liquid on your skin as the concentrations in e liquid aren't high enough to cause serious damage. Nicotine is not a proven carcinogenic, which means it does not cause, or tend to cause cancer. However, it is addictive and very dangerous in its pure form. Please handle your e liquid responsibly.

Is it true that I can smoke the electronic cigarette anywhere?

In the UK, the use of electronic cigarettes is currently unrestricted by law which means that you are allowed to use an electronic cigarette anywhere. Within the smoking ban that is currently taking place in a number of countries, ‘smoking’ is defined as “smoking refers to smoking tobacco or anything which contains tobacco, or smoking any other substance and smoking includes being in possession of lit tobacco or of anything lit which contains tobacco, or being in possession of any other lit substance in a form in which it could be smoked.” This means that anyone using an electronic cigarette is not breaking the law as electronic cigarettes do not contain tobacco, is not lit and does not produce smoke.

How should I store my e liquid?

E liquid must be kept in a dark, cool, dry place avoiding excessive sunlight which can damage the e liquid and discolour it. If left for a long period of time, and may help to shake the bottle to gain back the full flavour and throat hit. E liquid has an expirary date of roughly 1-2 years.

Are there any reasons you should not use the electronic cigarette?

Electronic cigarettes should not be used by anyone who falls into one more of the following categories;

• Anyone under the age of 18
• Anyone allergic to nicotine or nicotine based products
• Anyone who suffers from heart disease
• Anyone with high blood pressure
• Anyone with a weak immune system
• Anyone pregnant
• Anyone allergic to propylene glycol or any other ingredients in e liquid

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

All orders will be sent out within the next 2 days from purchasing. All orders are sent first class with Royal Mail, so all UK orders should be with you within 3 days. Please feel free to e-mail to find out about when your package has been sent out. All orders outside the UK should be with you within 10 days.

Can I return anything I have brought from www.mistEliquid.co.uk?

Orders can only be returned if the product is unopened and/or unused or DOA(dead on arrival). We are very friendly at misteliquid so just shoot us an email if you want to send something back and we will try and fix it for you.
